  1. Yeah, suppose small fish is better than no fish
  2. It was the perfect day, sun shining, water flat as a tack, warm weather, everything was great - except the fishing. We left for Roseville boat ramp at 4am, and got on the water by 5. As we cruised past north head, we were all wondering about what fish we would catch first. We pulled up to a random spot, and decided to have a go there. After 10 minutes of waiting, i finally got a bite. You could easily tell it was small, but the old man and his mate were arguing if it was morwong or flattie, but to their surprise, it was a tiny scorpionfish. Our luck just got worse, and after heading to some wrecks and having no catches, we decided to go to a few unmarked locations that my dad and his friend remembered from when they used to fish a lot. It was, to my surprise, slightly successful, with a few flatties just over the legal size (all went back). After 7 hours of fruitless fishing, we headed home. Two lessons were learnt - more planing is needed ( it was planned the night before) and perfect days do not always equal perfect fishing. Cheers
  3. We've got a ford f150 ute, so we could fit 2 kayaks in the ute and tow the boat, but would it be worth the trouble? Does it depend on how long were staying for?
  4. Nice catch! Was this on a boat or from the shore?
  5. Soon i'll be going on a fishing trip to Glenbawn dam, and camping a few nights. Now, i've fished there before from a kayak, but only casually and with little success, as well as being on a family trip. We've recently got a new 5-6m trailer-boat, and i'm debating about which would e better for a long stay. I know that the trailer-boat can't get amongst the fishy structure, but it can easily go to different spots in a shorter amount of time as well as some far away spots. I'm not even sure if there are any ramps big enough at the dam, though there probably is. I'm also concerned about the sunken debris. The kayak on the other hand can easily weave between the sunken trees, as well being easy to deploy. However, if the fish aren't biting, it takes time and effort to move to a new location. If the wind is blowing, it becomes extremely hard to keep in the butter zone. Which would be better, and are there any specifications in tackle that come with each watercraft? Cheers
  6. Just wondering if anyone knows any good sites or marks for some good spots off the northern beaches? cheers
  7. G'day my boat is currently in need of repair, and I haven't been able to get out into the Hawkesbury river system by boat. so I was wondering if anyone knew any good spots to fish, how to fish them and the right tackle to fish with.
  8. thanks for the advice! I have gone from a kayak at the bridge near woollies for jewfish at night, but there was absolutely nothing there. someone had told me to fish there as there was a deep hole in which the jewies dwell, but I couldn't find it
  9. G'day. I have done some beach fishing this year at North Curl Curl beach on the Northern beaches, and I have caught a few things, but have had trouble getting the fish to bite. I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what to do and how to do it when it comes to beach fishing Cheers
  10. G'day I was wondering where the best spots are in Narrabeen lake and what lures to use. I have been there very often but it hasn't offered many fish. is it a very good place to fish?
