Hi Raiders, Hoping someone can give me a few location tips for Pittwater around Palm Beach. I'm renting a house up there in January for a couple of weeks and taking the boat. I've never fished up there before. I'm not expecting any deep dark secrets but any advice would be much appreciated. (I'll happily accept the secret spots via PM.... ) Thanks Carl

Funny, My wife and I went out Tuesday for a bit of fishing/ touring etc. We were on two light gear rods just in Vaucluse Bay- I had a small plastic and I also threw out a whole pilchard on a larger rod. Decided to leave so I started to pull in the Pilchard.....very heavy. Thought it was a snag at first but it started to come with me so I through maybe a clump of weed. Turned out it was a good size octopus. Wife freaks out and wants nothing to do with it. I bring it to the boat and just as Kate goes for the net I bring it just close enough for the end of 1 tentacle to touch the side of the boat. Then it all goes pear shaped lol The critter anchors on to the boat and crawls underneath. I pull my heart out but is is stuck firm. Long story short- 20 minutes later I strip off with a knife about to jump in and perform surgery and the octopus jumps off the boat to go deep. I pull it up and cute the line. Lesson of the day- keep the octopus away from the boat ! Good for a laugh.....

Hi guys, I've only just joined the forum. I'm 47, Married with 2 boys. I grew up on the water on the Georges river and it was an awesome experience- tinnies with 25hp etc- fishing, free boarding, diving, spearfishing. I'm now landlocked in Woollahra but just bought a boat. I want my boys to share the experiences of boating and get their heads our of the computer room ! I have plenty of time now to get out and about on the harbour so hope to catch with some of you- I have very little harbour fishing experience..... Carl

Where did you get the mat ? I need one as I am unsure about all the legal sizes....

Hi guys A day of many firsts:- First proper day out on my new boat. My first post on this forum. First time trolling out the heads. First time caught fish trolling with a lure. Very happy. I picked up my mate at Balmoral at 0615 and went off the scout hall to try and get some squid- nada. Then went over to Camp Cove and this was equally unsuccessful- the last time I caught squid (a couple of years ago on a fishing charter) the water was really calm and you could see the critters coming up to the jig. Today was not nearly as clear. We then trolled across the mouth of the heads and up along the stretch to Manly. We both hooked up at the same time and brought in a couple of Bonito. We then drifted into Manly beach and picked a couple of nice size flathead so its fish n chips for dinner. I hope this is the start of a terrific Summer on the Harbour. Can't wait to find some Kingfish now.......

I've been wanting to buy a boat for ages, having grown up with boats on the Georges River. Spent a heap of time researching and couldn't go past a Chris Craft Catalina. My first prize was the 29 but all Catalinas are very hard to find 2nd hand so landing this awesome 2013 26 was great timing for me. I think it will be perfect for fishing/ skiing & cruising in the Harbour and Pittwater.
