  1. Looks like whover owns the lines in the top right of your first pic is doing ok...looks like a triple or even possibly a quad hook up. Have a word with him (or her), there's prolly some local knowledge you're missing out on. Sorry I can't be more specific as I only ever fish at sea level. I hope you manage to make the best of what look like very trying conditions.
  2. Overshare! Please mods, can you not do something about posts of this nature!!!!11!!!!!
  3. In the aftermath of the fires, I went scuba diving in Jervis Bay with some friends. It was touch and go whether we would be able to go at all, but just before we were due to leave the roads were open and the word from people in Jervis was "please come...we need tourist business!". I remember on dives outside the heads finding handfuls of charred leaves in gulleys 15+ metres under water. It was very weird being in Jervis in what should have been peak holiday season and having the place to ourselves. Vaguely related...time flies! I let my son drive there to rack up the hours on his L plates. A few weeks ago he tore up his P's.
  4. Have you tried salted baits? The usual suspects sell salted pillies, or you can salt your own baits easily enough. Another thought... When I catch bonito, I save the belly flap pieces to use as bait (sometimes salted, sometimes not), and even un-salted it's pretty resilient.
  5. Fixed that for you...no need to thank 🤪
  6. Your Garmin probably won't need much of a battery to run it. When I had a tinny I used a small 12V battery such as alarm systems use. If it's going to be in a tinny, you will want to strap it down securely so that the sparks stay on the inside. If you buy a spare power cable, the big plus is that you can then take battery, power lead and Garmin to somewhere comfy when you want to load GPS marks.
  7. Crabstar, this may not float your boat, but with warm, clear water, I would have tried trolling some deep divers around the points/islands and even in between in search of pelagics. First week of March, they should still be around, if that sounds like something you want to try.
  8. Chrome twisties work a treat, and if you buy the Aussie brand that come 2 or 4 on a card, they are cheap as.
  9. It never ceases to amaze and amuse me how willing fish are to hit a lure that's almost as big as they are...whether it's a tiny lure on a light spinning outfit or a diver trolled behind a boat, every now and then you will catch a very brave/hungry fish!
  10. If you are prone to sea sickness, try and do something active to take your mind off the sensation. Cold Coke or ginger beer may also help you feel better. Well done on trolling for bonnies - that is my summer jam! They fight well and are easy to clean. Bleed them and put them on ice and they make excellent sushi and also cook well.
  11. Thanks for that Derek, that was interesting viewing. In today's episode....when they are sitting around thinking about fishing (instead of going out and fishing), fisherpersons overthink stuff. In tomorrow's episode, how many angel shrimp can dance on the head of a fish hook....

    Fuses

Not being argumentative for the sake of it (honest!), but in that situation , wouldn't you start with both batteries and then just let the alternator charge both?

This known as 'make before break' or alternator field disconnect (two different approaches). But I can't think of a stuation where you would actually need to use it. It's a sort of Pascal's Wager for boaties.
