Thanks Swordfisher! that is a useful tread for someone just picking it up.
wow i never knew those fish were so bad. i had a couple in my fish-tank for years and there so placid that you can pick them up, but i never got stung so yeah dogged a bullet HAHA
i have not found them yet this year. i usually always get a couple chasing kings this time of the year. in saying that i have seen people with them

don't really need much for jewfish of the beach they don't really take much line. first run about 50m, they will usually take another of about 20m, then come in like seaweed from exhaustion.
from personal experience i find areas like this will produce more when there is no light just be shore to have your UV light on hand and always have the jigs glowing. i don't know if its my own voodoo but i can never consistently catch squid on a full moon
not sure i target them off the boat. im sure any rock ledge close to the heads will hold them. just be sure to have all your safety equipment with you. ive seen them get caught at Pier 2 and Clifton garden but it gets packed
Am i just taking notice because i cant go fishing for the meantime or is the Kingi fishing really that good at the moment!
i have seen so much 1m+ kingies being caught recently
I have only been chasing them for the past 3 years but every year im finding the Fish are becoming bigger and more consistent
Great Signs for the future! hopefully we wont have to go to NZ no more in the future

would weed from freshwater work? i saw so much at the city next to the berangaroo project on a wall that has water leaking from it. on the wall it was the stringy stuff and on the floor there was the cabbage stuff
