  1. Last time I went squidding, it didn't matter what colour we used - they were literally jumping on the jigs. I found if you have a pink or orange and a darker colour you will be alright, depending on light conditions...
  2. Enough to make your eyes water, but worth every cent! Do a search on boatsales for a territory pro 4800...
  3. Thanks guys. Shame about the fishing, but got a nice photo of the boat...
  4. Hi guys, Packed the boat/ute and headed to Forster for the weekend. Left at 4:30am Saturday and arrived in Forster around 7:30. Paid for camping site and launched the boat. Headed straight out to a GPS spot that was supplied by a "mate". Weather was fantastic with a small .5-1m swell. Caught a couple of wrasse and small whiting which were chucked back. Headed back inside and caught a couple of pinkies and small bream all returned. Called it a day at around 4:00pm. Went back out Sunday at around 6:30 and headed for the southern point past Forster beach. Swell was about 2m+ and lumpy as. Caught a couple more wrasse, a small trev and a small snapper about 25cm, again, all returned. The current both days was astounding - a strong NE wind about 15kn and southern current was pushing the boat further south whilst drifting. The bigger boats didn't fare much better either. So no keepers and lack of EPIRB/VHF stopped us fishing any longer, but the new boat was remarkable in the lumpy stuff. Really happy with the TABS/Suzuki combo. I'm planning another trip down to Jervis Bay soonish, along with an EPIRB and radio purchase, so hopefully we get something decent next time. Cheers, Tim.
  5. Right, off to BCF to grab some extra safety equipment. Thanks @antonywardle
  6. 45M water depth mark is 2NM offshore from Box Head?
  7. Don't suppose it's a Shimano Sahara 2-5kg rod and 3000 combo?
  8. Thanks, might keep it next time I ever catch one.
  9. Just out of shot in the last picture, it's in the normal side console position.
  10. Here is the report Neil: http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=80306
  11. Hit the water at 6:30am, headed to Box Head to check the swell which wasn't very conducive to sitting on the boat so we headed back into sheltered water. Found a spot near the oyster leases and picked up a few pinkies, small whiting and small bream all returned to the water. Shifted spots and picked up a 50cm flatty and a weird looking fan bellied leatherjacket that was foul hooked which made it feel about 5KG. Turns out it was only about 800g so chucked him back as I didn't know what to do... Are they edible and do they taste as good as "normal" leatheries? Wind picked up hard around 9:30am so we searched for calmer waters, but headed back at 10am as my first mate wasn't feeling well. So the new TABS is not a virgin fishing boat anymore. Heading to Forster this weekend so another report due next week. Cheers, Tim.
  12. No, it's the "old" 4900 - http://www.tabsboats.com.au/portfolio-view/4900-territory-pro-side-console/ Mine is the 2015 model which is 4.95m LOA. TABS just went through a change in their naming convention.

    My new TABS

Hey Raiders, I've already posted photos in the members gallery but I wanted to share some thoughts with prospective buyers. I wanted a boat so that I wouldn't be limited to mates boats (that had a family to look after and me wanting to go fishing every weekend) that I could take offshore and also get into estuaries. So after copious amounts of research I decided to go a Formosa 455 SC which would fit under the garage doors. I then rang my local Suzuki dealer regarding servicing costs (the Formosa dealer wasn't local) and he asked whether I considered the TABS. I said I did and the cost was over budget and it would be too long to reverse into my garage (i kinda live on a mainish road. He went through a few questions and finally we got to the point where the TABS 4800 Territory Pro was within budget, garage door height, reverse-able and available immediately. I go have a look with tape measure in hand and was initially astounded at the size, albeit tight with the height. I asked my local garage door guy whether I can raise the doors and he said yes, and it was done that day. Signed the paperwork at the dealership for the boat and I am now in possession of the TABS. Took it out for a test run with a couple of mates last week and from initial reports the boat is great and motor quiet. Haven't fished from it yet - booked in for early Saturday, reports to follow I just wanted to share with guys that are thinking of buying a boat that you need to think about what you want the boat to do and whether it will fit in/through your garage. Just do some thorough research; and I mean THOROUGH before you buy. It's really confusing going with different boat/motor manufacturers, but make sure you have a dealer close by. And also consider if you require aftermarket things like fenders (don't wanna scratch the painted sides), first aid kit, O/S safety gear and fish finder/GPS etc. All the aftermarket stuff adds up and will ruin your budget. If you see me on on the water, say g'day, and happy fishing/boating to all. Cheers, Tim.
