  1. Gave it a go today at browns rock. Didn't have any luck but will try again soon. Still after those tips if anyone is a pro at this
  2. Ive recently learned of shore jigging and it looks great and I'd love to give it a try. I can't seem to find a huge amount of info but what I can find it seems like it's a very successful way of fishing. Does anybody do it often? And do you have any advice? Eg lures? Braid or mono? Type of area to fish? Retrieval methods? Rod setup? i just purchased some Maria shore tricker 35 Gm jigs online. Can't wait to try it.
  3. Thanks for the advice guys. Really appreciate it. In regards to berley, how do you get it in the right area? I have a berley bucket but it tends to find its way back to the rocks I'm standing on. The only thing I can think of is throwing it or perhaps one of those ball throwing sticks that dog owners use. Any thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. A mate and I want to try Maroubra beach this weekend around either south or north rocks. I've never tried fishing here so really after a bit of advice. So far I'm thinking of using my 10 ft Rod with a paternoster rig with half pillys. And using my 9 ft Rod to throw a few rapala x raps and metal lures around. Obviously safety is the main thought and if the waves seem too much we will find somewhere else but so far the swell forecast seems alright. Shouldn't be too much wind and the solunar chart looks good. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Well done mate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I'd like to try soft plastics, vibes and the x raps of Maroubra beach on either north or south. Just never got around to it. Might have to give it a go and give the flick baits a try as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I had the day off today and I got a few blade lures,so I thought I would check out port botany today even though wind was absolutely howling. I went to the rock wall but not to the jetty part of it due to the wind. I was trying to hide from it as much as possible. Unfortunately couldn't hide from it at all. I only stuck around for half an hour got blown away and made feeling my blade lures pretty tough. I guess I'll see how the wind is tomorrow and maybe try again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks bob. I haven't got a black fish setup but I'll have a look into it and maybe change it up to give it a go. Thanks for your help Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. What type of fish are caught around the port botany boat ramp rock wall? Are there squid there? And what type of bait works best? I'm limited to landbased fishing and thinking of heading down to the rock wall soon. Any tips would be appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I've used turtleback worms with great success for tailor, trevally and flathead Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Anybody having much luck this winter with the soft plastics? What's been working well? I'm finding my usual gotos aren't having much luck this winter like they did in summer. Also has anyone tried the savage 3D crabs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Went for s drive around yesterday and saw a couple signs saying no fishing. The rocks themselves also look difficult to traverse. Not that I'd let that get in the way of a good fish. I do love a challenge especially if it results in some good fishing. I ended up at Browns rock. I didn't take any bait. I was just flicking bekeley gulp soft plastics, an x rap and a cranka crab around. Got a good bonito on the x rap but lost while I was trying to extend my net so it would reach the water. Not much interest after that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
