  1. Hi raiders, As the title states I'm after info/details for a 2005 savage envoy. Can't seem to find any information myself and doesn't seem to be very common. Cheers Haynze
  2. You can also try shellharbour. IMO a better ramp than Port Kembla and only about 3ks from Bass Point. Also plenty of options with Windang Island to the north and Minnamurra further south. You can hang around the gravel loader just north of Bass Point and will be very protected and usually flat. Also plenty of squid and yakkas just off Cowie literally a minute from the ramp.

    Left Muffs On

Cheers guys, it's put my mind at ease a bit. Thinking I might still have a look at the impeller though

    Left Muffs On

Hi Guys, Had a day off last Friday so managed to get a morning and arvo fishing session. Even with 20-25km winds and a lot of chop (lake Illawarra) managed to catch a few flattys. As I went to wash my boat after the arvo session I couldn't find my boat muffs and to my horror I found them on the leg of my outboard. They covered about 80% of the intake and aren't the tightest either. Now I'm starting to worry how much damage I have done. Due to the conditions I probably only reached max speed of 10-15knots with the longest duration about 5 mins and all up about 20mins worth of running time. Due to the wind and chop I'm thinking I wouldn't of heard the temp alarm if it did go off. The engine is a 2011 50hp Suzuki 4 stroke and only recently got a 100hr service wich included a new impeller. Should I just check the impeller and if it looks fine it's safe to say there was no damage?
  5. Im pretty new to boating and have only taken my boat out half a dozen times. I have always travelled with the locks down with my Suzuki 50hp 4ST. I have an aluminium boat and I leave it in that position when the boat is in the driveway also. It is only a few minutes to the boat ramp for me so never really gave it any thought but after reading this I had no idea about travelling with it down. Will be watching this post closely lol.
  6. I recently purchased my first boat. It's a Stessco 4.65 fish hunter. I got an aluminium boat as I fish by myself and so it is pretty easy to manage solo. I mainly fish in the lake but I have taken it out inshore reef fishing and has handled fine. Powered by a 50hp 4 stroke I can't fault it. As I have found out there will be hiccups as you take the boat out the first few times so don't focus on getting one with all the bells and whistles. You can always upgrade later when you get more competent. Always do a water test of the boat before you buy just to get a feel of it, many boats ride and handle differently so make sure your comfortable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Can't learn if you don't make mistakes. I always watch my engine when flushing it with fresh. After the second time I ever took it out the hose kinked while the muffs were on, any longer and I think I would of screwed my motor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Good work mate, were they caught on the drift or at anchor?

  11. Hi Guys long time reader first time poster, I recently purchased my first boat, a Stessco 4.69 Fish Hunter with a 50hp Suzuki. I'm very happy with the the boat and have taken it out a few times in lake Illawarra. After taking it out one day and flushing the engine I went inside for less than a minute and when coming back out I notice led there was no water stream to what was followed by a temp alarm. This was due to a kinked hose, I have taken it out since and it seems to be fine but I will be getting it serviced soon anyway as I was already planning to do so I looked through this site and noticed some people flush their engines in a bucket as opposed to earmuffs and I think I like the sound of that. Are there any pros or cons to this? After each trip I flush the engine and wash the trailer and boat down. Every two or three times I spray the trailer with Inox on around the tyre/axles and suspension and and have recently replaced and repacked the wheel bearings. I feel like there is more I can/should be doing to the engine. Should I be applying Inox, grease, lubes to the motor at all or any other moving parts like the steering shaft? I estimate I will probably get about 100hrs on the engine every year and based on that a yearly service should suffice. Also can anyone recommend a mobile mechanic in the Wollongong area? Cheers in advance Haynze
