  1. Hi all Tried searching bardi grubs here on fish raider and on the net and realised that there isn't a real lot of info on this great bait so thought maybe we could get some information on here on how people get them where they are found any tips on storing and such. Being new to getting them myself i have haven't got much to share other then a method of storage to keep alive. That being about 7 inches of polly pipe with one end taped off packed tightly with saw dust with enough room to put grub in head first cover grub with saw dust and tape other end up and put in fridge (some still die doing this). This is how some old fisho's taught my dad. Possibly room for improvement maybe some air holes in pipe and maybe in a dark cool area instead of fridge. Haven't tried any of these ideas because i haven't had the chance to go looking for them yet and so haven't had the grubs to experiment Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  2. If you are catching pike try smoking them. For a stinky oilt fish they turn out pretty good. Also left over smoked fish makes great burly Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  3. You see it all the time ppl turn up to fish and they just rig up and start fishing. They see the first couple of swells and think it looks great no knowing that swells come in sets and you generally get different sized swells each set. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  4. Been snapped off on whole medium size beaches and hooked some decent sharks off them too.salmon are actually really nice eating if eaten fresh, the trick is to gut straight away and straight into esky and when home fillet and skin. And most important of all is once skinned always cut out the dark redish brown completly off the fillet as this is the liver and holds the fowl taste that pplhate salmon for. Do all this and you will habe very firm and tasty fish. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

    Fg knot

Hi all Does anyone know of or use the fg knot for braid to leader knots? I have recwntly been getting some pretty decent sized creatures snap me off and a mate showed me my problem. I was running a free running star sinker doen to a swivel and then my mono leader from swivel to hook which he informed me that braid saps easier when tied to a swivel so he runs a leader tied to the braid and then star sinker runs on that to the swivel then a second mono leader to the hook. I was to lasy to change rigs and as we wern't getting any bites and of course my rod goes nuts and shortly after get snapped off, only for my mate to the hook up and drag a 7ft wobygong (scuse the spelling) onto the beach using same braid and all. So wondering if the FG knot is really the best braid to leader knot? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

    fire line

Mate fireline is the bench mark in braids. I have a reel that has fireline on it from when i was in grade 6 ( i'm now 30) and we went to qld catching the usual monster fish. Caught a ton of gummie and salmon on it since then and still use it to catch the jews and school sharks today. And i do allot of fishing. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  10. Just have to slide the knot down towards the hoo before tensioning. It looks like its a fair way up the line so your knot needs to be as close to the hook as possible before pulling it tight. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks mate i've heard of them being caught there but never thought it would be a regular spot. Went to moruya beach back of airport got 2 salmon and had something decent on but there must have been something out in the break half buried in sand as i couldn't budge it and thought it was a ray. but on a cast that my bait fell off and had to wind in my line hit something and wouldn' budge again. Lost another rig before that too. Ever heard of so.ething bedding up in the sand off beaches cause it was a first for me Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  12. Hi all Wondering if anyone could recomend some good beaches for school shark around the batemans bay area? And times of the year to fish for them? Cheers Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  13. Sorry mate wasn't accusing anyone from here of doing it was just trying to point out how sad it is that we all enjoy the hobby and should all be looking after our own intrests so we can continue being able to do it and people such as sea chainz are able to go out and find some too. I think everyone should making a mention when something like this happens so people know that others are watching and don't agree with what they are doing. I got my limit and have allot of prawns in my freezer now and wouldn't need anymore so what do people do with so many? Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  14. Try fishing for squid where you are rock fishing if you get some squid put straight on for bait. Also try with light gear and metal lures or vibers if your not catching anything that would be good bait try somewhere else as if there no bait there probably not kingy there either. 15. Where are you from? Finding a good place to get them can be the hard part. Coila had good prawns before christmas but also had a huge ammount of people chasing them and taking way over their limit including the pros. So sadly went there last night for my first look since before christams and low and behold no prawns. ToThe people braging about getting 50 odd kgs night after night hope you get done oneday and loose everything. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  16. Also softer leader line works better with braid as it has a bit of give where braid has none Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  17. Most mackrel take to smoking really well. Will have to give the yakka a go though Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  18. Cool will give this a try i normally catch and release bream and catch allot around that 40cm mark just haven't found a nice way to eat tgem lkl Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  19. I have a feeling that they do regenerat a head once lost. Why would any animal pull so hard its head comes off otherwise. I froze the forst worms i got after rolling in dry sand and adding some salt to a zip lock bag and have been using as bait over this weekend. Avtually surprised at how tough they are and the fish have been hitting this bait hard lol. Lots of fun fishing areas where i used to fish with green prawnand only catch the odd flatty now pulling in whiting flat out, they really do love the worms and it stays on they hook better then a prawn so always get the follow up bite if you miss the first one Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  20. So how does a fish actually catch a beach worm itself lol they are hard for is to catch so i imagine a fish would have trouble getting them Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  21. Yeah worst thing is i rarley get down there anymore. Wish i knew about the place when i lived there. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  22. They were all lying on the same water mark on the beach. At first i thought maybe some one had sprayed a paddock and then some made it to the water but possibly it was just 1 day that was really hot. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  23. And before they turned up we discovered that every living thing in the sea loves worms lol. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  24. Thanks rex. Would you say that any beach that holds worms would have decent fish? Seems to be allot of worms but only get the odd bream or schoolie through the day. Haven't hit it at night yet so will try some in close fishing just on dark. Had a go with two whole worms under bridge but right on full tide (dead still) maratime pops over in their monster boat with 2000 questions lol. Missed the prime fishing time but good to see them checking people . Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
  25. Cheers for the response. Never thought of snokeling the beach to get an idea of what they are doing will have to give it a go. Dont get to go out too often so when i do i try to make it on the right day and be organised. Will let you know how i go with big chunks of worm might give it a go in the lakes.
