Thanks lads, I should taken the mobile, and a pic...... BUT didn't. Oh well, all I can say is, as for a description.......... The little bugger looked like he was wearing a South Sydney rabbitoh's footy jumper, green with red stripes. Went about 20cm.

So I had to take a weeks rec leave (ya get that) Anyway I headed up to Laurieton to catch up with, and check up on my best mate (DAD) We fished the river, Thu, Fri and Sat: Caught a head of throw back bream, a couple of lizards that found their way to the dinner table. It was precious time spent with the old boy (Don...84) I also caught, what I believe to be a wrasse or rainbow fish ?? Can these very colourful fish be eaten, is there a size limit ?? I returned this little gem to fight another day in the river, so yeah can anyone tell me more about the wrasse ??

So, managed a couple of days off work, and checked up on the Ol man at laurieton. Threw a rod and the tackle box in for good measure. Fished a few spots, ending up next to the marine rescue shed. This spot proved itself and offered me two keeper breams. Happy days.

Hello, Not sure if this is the right place to post my question on bait runner reels. Raiders, I just got back from a little fishing trip up in Bundaberg, my friend was using a bait runner set up, and did quite nicely too, I must say. I think his was an 8000 ??? What I want to know is, firstly do they come in 4000 size? Secondly, I am about to take a punt on the weather and take my father from Laurieton out for a little line wetting exercise, so I am asking if a small bait runner will do the business in the estuary system around Laurieton ? Also, how much would I be looking at, any ideas ? Thanks Raiders. Rod.

Sorry guys, tried to "post" using my mobile phone (I'm useless at this techno stuff) So anyway, fished off the beach, north of the van park (stayed in a cabin) used an estuary rod, running sinker and pipi for bait. Some of my catch included a 46cm lizard, a 34cm whiting, some throw back dart and a couple of smaller whiting. I did have pics on the phone, but like I said B4............. USELESS.

Laurieton is North of Bulahdelah, Coolongolook, Johns River……… Take the Kew exit, then turn right into Laurieton.

So after finishing work for the week on Fri night, I left home (Raymond Terrace) for dads (Laurieton) early yesterday (Sat) and as soon as I turned up at dads, we hit the sand flats with pump and bucket in hand, and a hand full of nippers later we were wetting a line Tally….. Dad, one throw back bream. Yours truly, one cracker long tom and a nice flattie. Back home now, back to work tonight @ 920pm A great day spent with my dear old dad, 83yrs young, and all it cost us was time and effort. I had my fish for tea last night, perfect day/night at dads.

Just done a search on the web….. That rainbow coloured fish, looks to be a ''Rainbow Wrasse" So the question I have to ask is….. Can you eat them, and if so, what's the legal length? My dad caught and released 2 of these beauties that went around 22cm. I left my phone at his house and was unable to take a happy snap.

Scratchie, just frozen prawns, no weed, no plastics/lures or live bait. Just good old basic fishing, for a couple of old, basic blokes. lol.
