  1. Sometimes ( pretty rare ) the little wire connectors within the plug close up and the male part doesn't make contact with the female part, get a small flat screwdriver and put in gap and open up slightly (not too far ) so that both are in contact with each other. Frank
  2. Ricardo. Always enjoy your videos and this was no exception, great conditions and a good catch, with pleasant music. Thanks for sharing with us. Frank
  3. Hi and welcome to the site, hope you have along and enjoyable time here. The outfit you have chosen would be a great combination, extremely light that you could fish for hours without your arms dropping off ( depending on what you get on the end of the line ) and more importantly extremely tough and robust. I would personally ( IF I could afford such an outfit ) prefer a reel with a little more line capacity, go the 4 . not going to suggest an alternative here as it may confuse the issue. Although Gloomis suggest these rods are a spin type rod I would like to have a try with them with a overhead reel such as the LTD 15 or similar. Don't know what size stripper eye this rod has as I can't see a photo of it anywhere but all other eyes look like they would be suitable for overhead reel, and if need be I would fit low seat stripper eye to suit. But that's just me. Would suggest the outfit would suit Kings, Snapper, gummy's and light tuna etc. Frank
  4. Great read and nice photo of a beautiful fish, helps when you have an expert like Scratchie with you to share some spots and some tricks. Thanks for the good read. Frank
  5. I could post a few photos of the ones I make that twist up, down and around, but some members might think I am bragging . So for now I will keep these to myself. But I do make the straight forward 2 and 3 holders at any or all angles, but hard to keep 1 of each in boat so I have just gone to the Berkley plastic ones for the tinnie have 4 and move them from position to position as needed, I have extra brackets. Frank
  6. Thanks gents for the kind words. Dave glad it went OK for you, they can be a bit tricky to get right . I have fitted a couple dozen of these things and it's old hat to me, they are a very simple means of one up boat control at the ramp and I'm sure you will be more than happy when you get used to it. Just remember that spring thing ON for ON and OFF for OFF . Neil, good to see you posting again, Email any news. NoelM glad to see you posting again, just like the old days. Frank
  7. Some nice bass there. never fished Lyall and one place that is on my list to must do. Redfin are good on the plate and when they are in good numbers you can quickly get a good feed. Frank
  8. It's a fascinating sight to see Flying fish soar above the waves to be picked off by a graceful big Albatross going about his/her business. That's a great doco as is all his work. Thanks for bringing it to our site. Frank
  9. I would wait to see if someone with know how answers before going ahead with taking things apart. It's not like you need to use it today , OR is it ?. Frank
  10. Yes I forgot everyone hasn't got the means to quickly and effortlessly unwind a spool. I simply put a large spool in my lathe and wind the line off, variable speed so I can wind it as slow or as fast as the bearings etc can stand. You can use a power drill to do the same job just means you have to hold the drill while winding unless you have a hands free stand for it. Anyhow I think you need to remove the handle side plate to remove the spool , not sure as I have never owned one of those reels. Someone on here will help with the right advise. Frank
  11. Just wind the line onto another spool or bottle or something else and once the line is off there will be room to place the bolts through the frame. Frank
  12. Rick. As far as I know it is all private property, we used to gain access via cemetery rd ( that's what we used to call it ) it's the road that leads off near the old Ophir cemetery ( which I can't even find on google maps now ) Just north of Ophir reserve, and across the river/creek and into a property, there was a old abandoned sheering shed that we used to camp in and we assumed it was private property but we never seen anyone else there let alone the property owner, we could drive around for days fishing shooting and camping without spotting another human. Good times then, there wasn't even a seat at the reserve back then , now it has toilets block seats and bloody signs. Frank
  13. I have mine in large wallet that has velcrome on bottom to hold onto tackle storage , holds about 20 packets of plastics. I have 2 of these and this one is just about due for renewal . Frank
  14. Wow that sounds like a damn good day on the water to me, plenty of action and although the fish were small it's still great to be on the water and amongst some action. Thanks for sharing your day with us. Frank

I believe many of the components are supplied by Tohatsu as is the case with Yamaha, mercury and Johnson. there are several brand names here now from China and I think they would all be pretty reliable, just the old fashioned boaters like myself would think twice before buying one. Frank
  16. I used to camp at Ophir and 4x4 all over the place up and down the rivers and creeks. Frank

    Boat No go !!!

Hateanchors. No not a sound, the choke works and I can hear it clicking on and off but when I turn the key it does nothing. Electrics are not my thing so if it's electrical I'm stuffed. I don't want to keep turning the key cause a few years ago I had a similar situation with a 40hp Tohatsu motor and ended up burning the cdi out. Frank

Mmg I will try that tomorrow. Right now the boat has it's cover on it so can't be bothered even looking at the thing. Frank

    Boat No go !!!

Kingie. Last time I got a pro to fit a impella and just a general check over I got the bill $700 and that was a site sponsor where I thought I was gonna get a reasonable deal, you know mates rates. Last time. If I can't fix it tomorrow when I'm feeling a bit more at ease I will fit another motor I have down the back. That just needs another carb. Think it's something simple. will try a few tricks. have checked fuse etc starter not jammed . Frank

    Boat No go !!!

Bloody hell I can't take a trick lately, was planning on a trip down to Bermagui for a bit of R and R + fishing and thought I better run the motor to check water and all that sort of stuff ( long way to tow it to find something wrong ) well that chinaman I ran over several times lately struck again. The motor won't turn over, tried battery check OK tried linier connection check OK tried going between gear and neutral with wiggles etc NOTHING choke works so wiring OK . Check all wires make sure everything tight check OK . Think it's either starter motor or solenoid . will have a play tomorrow just too upset now to be bothered. Something is telling me to jive this game up. Frank
  21. Not the exact spot but have fished MacQuarie either side further upstream and downstream of Turon with some success , only small trout but still fun ( Rainbows ) . But many years have passed since my day fishing that area. Frank
  22. Agreed the system needs a good flush of fresh water, great catch and thanks for sharing with us. Frank
  23. Wow I still have a 1986 Garmin . Don't use it but keep it anyhow, should connect it up and laugh at the old technology. Frank
  24. That looks like 18mm to me, take the shaft out and measure the hole of the bracket. That shaft has expanded with rust so might have started as 16mm. Is the boat a Haines Signature ?. Frank
  25. Wow. Just checked the price of Stainless rod and it's gone up heaps since I bought my last batch so the material cost would probably be more like about $50 now. Frank
