  1. I think the best thing to is be optimistic and positive. NSW Fisheries is a world class entity and I am sure they are giving the other appropriate government agencies the nudge. I guess things take time. Not sure of a solution but I bet there a few marine scientist, environmental scientist and other planners that are paid the big bucks ti figure out some mitigation. We all need to remember, this isnt something that has started over night, its been happening for quiet sometime. We just now live in an age where many people can jump on band wagons to push an agenda. In which, this particular situation has gone viral. In my opinion probably one of the only good worth while topic that has gone viral.
  2. Thanks man! I am not expert, have caught them in unlikely places though. I really need to film a Murray Cod Trip.
  3. As some may be aware the Murray Cod are a Western side of the Great divider species. Any river that flows into the Murray Darling theoretically could provide Murray Cod. Many Lakes have been stocked with them, how ever in proximity to Sydney you are looking around at least 2 hours driving. Rumour has it some of the catchments to the south of sydney, Nepean, Avon and Cataract are stocked with cod and yellow belly if you can find access. Macquarie River from Bathurst onwards you will find them. Ben Chifley Dam has occasionally given some monster cod to lucky anglers. You will have luck if you fish Lake Burrinjuck, Wyangalar and Burrendong. I have also heard on the grapevine Cod have been released in Oberon Dam. Big lures and persistence is the key.
  4. Rejuvinating an old post how ever its pretty wild country through this area. In all fairness if you can get down to the Tuglow, Coxs or Upper Kowmung you will find Trout. Celtas and Pink Tassie devils do they trick!
  5. Hey mate not sure if Newcastle is your thing but I do a bit up my way. Hit me up on a PM
  6. Unfortunately we live in a world now where ones ego and ability to google something is a lot more easier then respecting someones wisdom. There are a lot of people that a willing to learn as well, how ever people of all ages I notice don't just take your word for it. Confidence is another thing to.
  7. Nice one, still waiting to get mine. Starting to believe they are a mystery fish.
  8. Bass and EP are very similar, science states they are two seperate species closely related but IMO they are the same....
  9. Good evening and Merry Christmas to all, Last few weeks I have been smashing the Williams River off Clarence Town, around 50 minutes north of Newcastle. The upper reaches of the Williams has always produced good bass or 'Wild' bass as what the new age anglers call them. To me they are all 'Wild' impoundment or not....Rant over lol. Anyway I have taken the 'bass hole' up the river a couple of times to suss out some spots and study the structure. Average depths I found were about 4 meters but has shallower sections. Due to the wind factor I put it on the troll and we pulled in 8 and dropped a couple. As always my stories are accompanied by a video for proof may be some minor language please excuse me. Below there is one embedded. Check it out and I hope you guys can get up there. JA
  10. Yeh still an adventure! Road hasn't been re-sealed in a long time. You will definitely have to get out there.
  11. Thanks guys, freshwater is always an exciting change!
  12. Looking good fellas, I have recently moved back to the area and went out Broughton not to long ago how ever we only got 1 snapper, seen a heap of whales. Reckon i need to follow your way lol
  13. Hi Raiders, I have been lurking in the back wash from social media and not actively sharing any reports as there hasn't really been much to report. However I have fished Lostock a few times in Winter. I have pulled out a few with the biggest being 33cm but it just the consistency was not evident for catching. Now spring is here I have been hitting again and catching more and more. Some good days some off days. I went the other week and my cousin pulled out a nice 37cm Bass. It was his first Bass and i certainly got him hooked. This season will be mostly Bass and I need to beat my record which is 45 cm. I pulled out of Lostock back in 2016 using a Rapala Skitter Pop. The trend is rising and more and more people have been out on the water hitting it hard. Lostock is one of my favourite places to fish as the tranquility is superb. I also enjoy not having to share the water with wake boats and jet ski riders due to the imposed 8 knot limit and lack of sealed boat ramp. I hope it will stay this way for a long time. I have put together a small video showing my trip and I hope you all enjoy it.
  14. Some good bass on a good looking spot. Well done
  15. The subject of the Narara dams has been bought up many times on this forum. I have been 'uhmming' and 'ahrrring' to go there for a while now. I have finally had the opportunity to go down and lucky it was a wet day as it looked very snakey. I reckon plenty of funnel webs if I looked hard enough. A question many ask is do you need to cut through private property to get there. Long story short is No. It was a 5 minute walk from the road at Reeves st. Once getting into the valley you will come across the upper dam, very spectacular. Be very careful walking on the wall. The lower railway dam is located about 100 meters down stream. It is also a stunning sight. It is said there is bass how ever I didn't go at the right bass time. Sunset or sunrise in my books. It was not swimming weather how ever it was a pleasure to get down there. The hike back up was a little ordinary as we ended up going up the long way for some reason. Remember to mark your track. I highly encourage people to visit how ever as always minimal impact is the key. Don't do dumb things and if you hurt your self, take responsibility for your own actions. I have put together a small video for you to witness. I sure hope you enjoy it. JA
  16. Ladies and Gents, the proof is in the pudding. If you chase bream with lures Drew from beer bush and boats is the man for you. Drew has put in a bit of effort to share his favourite lures to throw at bream! Down below is his video and I highly recommend it. This video is not an advertisement and does not affiliate with any company. This is solely a hot tip for young players. enjoy JA
  17. Wouldn't we all... lol very limited to local trips at the moment. But not complaining.
  18. Guys, you may of been reading my posts and seen some of my videos however I really need to reiterate the flathead are very consistent around St Huberts island. Pick any sand bar, inlet or shallow channel and run with soft plastics and you will hit them hard. Pick your tides and keep an eye out for water traffic. I find once the leaf blower boats and average family joe is out and about the water moves to much and can make fishing a little harder. I went out the other day and picked up a few in a short session before it rained. Embedded I have a short VLOG that will show you where to go. I look forward to seeing you out there!
  19. Very good read mate cheers. My question is, does anyone rate the cheap knock of braid found on fee bay. There are some dodgy brands like 'spider cable' etc personally I purchased some no name stuff, came very well presented. Havnt had a chance to fully work it though yet.
  20. Good insight, I certainly like the idea of that sudden power of drag change. I'm sure it will no doubt greatly help in setting a book! fish mostly from the boat, I find braid and mono both serve two different purposes. When trawling I prefer mono due to stretch. i used smaller reels when chasing flatty a with plastics, but I have been doing a lot of drifting with plastics these days. I have found I can cover more ground doing so. Some of my videos on you tube demonstrate this. I don't do to much bait fishing these days but I thought having a bait runner handy may help out on the off chance I might want to set some bait.
  21. Hey Raides, Just acquired a Baitrunner OC 4000 for giggles and to test. I started his thread to find out stories, who loves them and who hates them. Any information on any style of bait runner reel would be great, this is not exclusive to shimano branded reels. Maybe this thread could be used as good advice for those with bait runners or those starting out. I certainly look forward to using mine. i have a few questions though. Would anyone use the, during live baiting? Do you prefer them with braid or mono? How do they go with soft plastics?
  22. Old thread but one thing I have noticed about this forum is the lack of trolls, minimal know it alls and no disrespect to each other. I find the information shared is useful, everyone focuses on the core topic and there is always a valued audience for each thread. I am not a full time user but every time I do use this forum I always find a positive light to the best sport on the planet.
  23. Hey guys I am hearing rumours and seeing videos of people catching Bass on the central coast. Unfortunately these spots are either vague or hidden. besides the railway dams and having to park my car on the free way where can I catch bass in the Gosford / ourimbah area? also is Mardi creek dam accessible and does it hold fish?
