  1. Thanks guys

    Just confused by the swivel

So put one end of the swivel into the eye and close the eye.

Then the other end of the swivel goes to through the hook, past the barb

So how would you keep that in place

The barb isn't big enough to keep the swivel in

  2. Hi Fishwithme

    1. Water out the exhaust is normal and is a good way to tell your water pump is working and your thermostat is open.

    2. Does the motor cut out after going higher revs when you return to idle or it won't idle at all?

Clean or for $10 change your spark plugs.

You may need to just slightly turn up, the idle on the carby maybe 1/4 of a turn.

After any adjustment let it rev and run before doing anymore and take a photo of the original position so you can go back easy enough.

What model and year is the 15hp?

    Hi mate

    Thanks for the info

Whenever I keep it on idle. It'll cut out, regardless of whether I return from higher revs or just after starting

I've always just compensated by starting it and always running it on higher revs

It can be a bit annoying at times

It's starts up fine normally but if it cuts out at idle it takes a while to start back up

    It's a 2009 dt15

  3. Hi raiders,

I've always purchased pre-ganged hooks to save me the hassle of ganging them myself

Recently I thought I would buy some open eye gang hooks and do it myself.

I thought to myself, how hard could it be?

Bought some mustard open eye gang hooks, for the life of me I couldn't close the eye of the hook with my pliers.

Just wondering what people use to close the gangs. Maybe I'm using the wrong type of pliers

    Thanks

  4. Hi

I'm relatively new to boats, I've purchased a tinnie with a 15hp 2 stroke motor.

I just noticed that water spouts out the exhaust port that is above the water, below the cowling clip.

    Is this normal?

Also it starts and runs fine on higher revs but it cuts out at idle and then takes like 6 pulls before it will start again

What could be the cause of this problem?

    Thanks in advance

  5. Hi guys,

I have recently boat a 4m tinny, it has a 100ah deep cycle battery which powers the fish finder, nav lights, and led lights.

I'm new to boating and am unsure how exactly this battery is meant to be charged. It is not connected to the motor.

It is held in place by screws so it's a bit of a pain to remove.

    Any suggestions ?

What kind of charger would I need ?

And how would I charge the battery?

    Thanks in advance

  6. Northern beaches has many great beaches for fishing

Some days one Beach will work while another won't and vise versa

Just need to be at the right spot at the right time

Just need to fish a high tide that is at or just after sunset

    Like tonight or tomorrow night

  7. Caught jew with salmon baits before so no problems there.

I slab bait a fillet. I cut it into 3 or 4 pieces depending on the size of the salmon.

Any fish that is fresh will work off the beach, dont let people tell you otherwise.

Jew can be caught on trevally, dart, whiting, blackfish, sand crabs and tailor just to name a few. Basically if it swims around the beaches or beach headlands its good for bait as long as its fresh.

Now, Jew certainly have their preferences but if i had any of the above species as freshly caught bait (that is, i caught it that afternoon on the beach and will stay on fora jew session) i certainly would not be packing up and would be giving it a shot!

    Thanks mate

I'll be sure to give it a try next time I get out

I'll find it to hard to use a whiting as bait cause they taste too good

But I'll be sure to try tailor and salmon fillets

  8. Gotta be in it to win it.

It will take a while but the big bait will eventually get eaten.

Now that would be a big bait for a big jew

A Jew would have a hard time trying to catch such a big salmon, salmon are very fast
