  6. I cast metal from the beach with a 9'6 savage gear rod 10-15kg line rating in calm to average conditions,if its rough and or windy i use a 12ft silstar Diamanto 7-10kg line rating,i generally use 20pnd mono on both.,the savage gear 9;6 i use 20-30gram lures and the 12ft rod i use 30-50gram lures,i have found a good medium action is fine and both are graphite rods. the silstar rod is discontinued now but its been a great rod its taken a beating,im not sure why more stores dont carry higher end silstar rods.
  7. Hi there, iwas wondering if anyone knows if fishing is permitted in Brays Bay reserve at Rhodes in sydney? i stopped for a look today but could not see any signs regarding fishing. thanks for your assistance
  8. Today I learned exactly what you mean, spooled new jbraid and a handful of casts and wind knots, twice I had to remove and cut some line fortunatly not alot. Casting a halco 30g twisty with 9"6ft savage gear rods. I suspect the line is coming of the spool faster than the guides on the rod so bunches together to create knots . Is there anyway to avoid this? If I cast with a rod with bigger diameter guides would this help. Any assistance is appreciated 👍
  9. thanks for your advice Savit, thats a good idea
  10. Hi there, I have a 9'6ft savage gear rod and a fin nor lethal 40 i use for casting metal lures of the beach(i am new to lure fishing) i want to buy some quality braided line for it and was wondering about the amount of line it says on the spool. example 8lb/270yds....12lbs/200yds... does this refer to mono or braid or both? i want to buy 20lb of good quality braid i suspect i need to buy 300yds of braid because you can cast a fair distance surf casting and 150yds just may not be enough any brand recomendations is welcome also yes i am new to braided line. thanks in advance

  15. Hi there, Im planning to travel to gold coast later this year by air and was wondering what is the best way to transport some fining rods on aircraft. what i thought was buy PVC tube with end caps or buy a travel fishing rod tube from a fishing store about 2m in length. i am interested in other peoples experience with this and any advice is appreciated. thanks.
  16. I use the Willy weather App,I find the wind strength and direction are really important.a strong crossword or directly at you can really make surf fishing difficult. Also the swell, you want some swell but not too much. I check weather for the location I'm intend to fish right up to the time I head off then check the beach for best fishing location, sometimes things can change very quickly so I often have a plan B location.
  17. Thanks for your advice green Hornet, what’s the best way to access bherwerre beach,I have beach gear and really enjoy beach fishing, thanks again.
  18. Hi there, in a few weeks I will be heading to Sussex Inlet for some fishing,I will be staying on the jervis bay side opposite the town of Sussex, I was wondering how fast the current runs in the main channel there on the run in run out tide? i haven’t fished the inlet before so I’m curious for info or tips. 19. I did exactly that a few years ago,my results were poor. now I often use salted Pilchards on 3 ganged hoods(great for flathead and tailor) i also get chicken thighs and remove the soft part and cut the remaining into bait size and add some garlic salt and freeze it,I have since caught my best bream on this bait and it’s very cheap. another cheap option buy some mullet at the local fish shop, fillet them and salt it with sea salt, put in fridge for a few days then remove the water the salt has drawn out and freeze the fillet. there is some good cheap options that will catch fish, just some preparation will get better results.
