Long time lurker, first time poster.
After endless frustration with surf fishing conditions I decided to change things up today. Inspired by the reports in this forum I decided to do something I haven't done in nearly 40 years - chase luderick. As a kid growing up on the central coast I spent many hours float fishing for blackfish from the old Gosford railway bridge but hadn't pursued it since. My fishing mate collected weed from a location he knows on the northern beaches and I read Fishraider posts and studied a few YouTube videos. Armed with weed, ambition and the best luderick advice the internet can provide we set out this morning. We selected a location in the Pyrmont area where I'd seen some obviously experienced fishos chasing blackfish as I walked by one lunchtime a few weeks ago (I work nearby so always try and study who is chasing what in the local area). The result was better than I could have expected. Landed four (29cm, 31cm, 33cm and 41cm) and dropped two. Kept one for the table and sent the other three back. Pretty stoked and happy to join the brotherhood of the blackfish. I don't think it'll take another 40 years for my next outing.
