  1. I've got Shimano Stradics FJ not sure what washers they have but I'm assuming there the felt ones and I'm guessing carbontex are better. Im after smoothness really and but not so much increased drag
  2. Just after people’s options on upgrading your spin reels drag washers to carbontex. Has anyone done theirs? was it worth and is it better to cut your own or buy pre cut carbontex washers?
  3. Hi guys just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for kid friendly land based spots on the George's River or Port Hacking River? cheers
  4. I found my problem. Some of the gearing seized in the motor turning assembly and also chewed out some of the gears. Looks like I can only buy the whole base $165 plus shipping if they still have stock
  5. Hi just wondering if anyone else has had the electric motor steering seize up on them. The last time I used it the steering was very stiff and slow but I could still turn. Someone suggested it could be a battery problem, so I changed it to no avail. Yesterday I took it out to find that the steering is completely seized. Any thoughts? Cheers TIA
  6. What's the Best time for catching blue swimmers crabs in Botany Bay?
  7. I've seen it on other Aussie online tackle stores similar price but not sure of the quality
  8. Anyone used Amber Japanese flurocarbon leader? Cheap price on eBay
  9. Hi just about to fit a bilge pump to my Brooker Fisherman 4.1 and was wondering what the best position to fit the outlet hose to, out the side or out the back of the transom?
  10. Nice work boys! I couldn't make it out today ( today of all days) but my usaual boat had one hooked up for around 30 mins then dropped it. Just wondering what kind of spread you guys are running? Hard bodies or skirts or a combo? We're new to the game fishing scene so any tips you also have on running your spread and fighting fin once hooked up would be great Cheers Dom
  11. Heading out too guys on Tuesday, we usually start from browns. We have been ruining hard bodies laser pros and a skirt. What is the general feeling for fin yellow or blue skirts or hard bodies?
  12. Heading Saturday too. Keep in touch boys
  13. Nice update. Sounds like you have been having some fun. When you say metal jigs do you mean metal knife jigs? And what size?
  14. After people's opinion who have a bit of boat knowledge. I have a 2009 Brooker Fisherman and currently upgrading my fishfinder. The old transducer cable passed through the transom in 1cm hole and was sealed and covered by clam shell cover. The new transducer cable (lowrance) needs a 25mm and I wasn't sure if enlarging the old hole will weaken the transom too much or just blank off the old hole and pass the cable over the transom.
  15. Not going to connect to anything. Just going on my little tinny with a 2 stroke 30hp. I don't think I can justify the extra $600 for the structure scan
  16. Hi just wondering if anyone has compared these two models of fish finders. To be used on my Tinnie estuary fishing targeting bait schools and larger fish ie; kings, Jews, snapper insore. Current price for the Elite 5x HDI $399 bcf and the 5x HDS ebay $540 or at the shops $680. What would be the best product value for money and for my use?
  17. Just wondering what people would recommend Shimano Sustain 4000 FG VS Stradic 4000 Ci4+ both same price. After a reel to flick plastics all day for flattties, Jewies, snapper, kings looking to load with 10-12lbs braid
  18. Hi boaties Just wondering if anyone out there has a 2009 Mercury 30 hp electric start or similar motor. If you are able to look at the neutral micro switch length. The movable tang on the end is about 5mm on mine just want to compare to see if mine is snapped or worn as when the motor is in neutral the stricker plate just touches but not enough to let the motor start electrically. See picture of switch, couldn't take a pic of the switch end tang Also after a short run today after a few months came back and flushed motor then notice slightly milky oil coming from under gearbox on leg from a water drain hole. What seal is letting this oil out I'm assuming maybe from gearbox. See picture Also motor has done around 15hrs since last service but it has been a year.
  19. Thx for all the comments don't forget to vote for catch of the month
  20. It was a Pro Lure Australia 105mm Fishtail in Chopper colour soft plastic rigged on a fairly heavy jig head to combat strong current flow. Can't remember what size weight
  21. Yeah definitely a new PB for me Scratchie. Smashed my old one which was 76cm almost 7 years ago
  22. Hi been awhile since I posted but I had to tell this story. Headed out solo on the George's River on Wednesday 15/05 for a flick for some Jewies. Started from Revesby Beach boat ramp and flicked my usual holes along the way. Fishing was quiet slow and I wasn't seeing much bait around as I headed my way down river. This all changed when I got to Como and I got a hit and boy was it a hit, the fish at this stage unknown species went for a few short runs and gave a few strong head shakes. Shortly after I got to see some colour although it was the size of Jewie it was brown, I then realised that I was hooked up on a monster of a Flatty. By this stage a few people had stopped to watch as they got close one called sting ray and I called back a monster Flatty. It then had its final few runs from the surface thrashing its massive tail headed back down. I got her back to the surface and carefully tried to net her, only he head was in, and got it into the boat. Wow this was a big fish. She went 92cm on the brag mat and boy was she thick, didn't think of turning on the scales on the lip grips but the batteries were probably dead. I got the boys who stopped to take a few pics and back in she went. I swam her for a while and realised her and watched her swim down into the depths. I would like to submit this fish in catch of the month N.B Moderators - the hat I am wearing is actual a very dark blue, I can send a pic in better light if needed
