Thanks for the suggestions. Wollongong is probably a bit far for me. Might try the northern beaches (curl curl). Would a normal rod (not beach rod) be capable of getting bream off the sands or will it not be able to cast out far enough? My friends and I are beginners.

Hi all, With the weather getting colder, just wondering if it's still viable for land based fishing this time of the year? Any suggestions for any spots? (Bonus points if the waters are good enough for eating). I've fished in the past Bobbin Head, La Perouse and Lilli Pilli. So far only had luck at Bobbin Head and La Perouse but was damn lucky to get anything. Cheers

Will try using a float next time but the waters I've been to are relatively shallow. I'm assuming beach fishing is not feasible without a beach rod?

Hi all, Looking to grasp some knowledge from the community. As a relatively inexperienced fisher, one of the most frustrating things when I fish is getting my hook caught on weeds or rocks, having to cut the line (if i can't get it free) and then rejig my line. So in saying that, I was wondering if anyone here has any recommendations for land based fishing in Sydney with minimal weeds/rocks. So far i've been to Lilli Pilli, Bobbin Head, and La Perouse. Hi guys, Apologies if this is the wrong section. Anyway, just wondering if the fish from apple Bay or bobbin head are safe to eat? Looking at heading out there this weekend. Also, as a complete newbie to fishing, do prawns work well in those type of waters? I like using cooked prawns and have had some success in other areas.

Land based. Any alternatives to Hawkesbury prawns if I can't get any?
