  1. ??? using questionable "science" is a common streak in modern day activists.
  2. If we zoom in on individual issues they're all unrelated, I absolutely agree. And on my submission to the survey I mentioned nothing else other than the marine park issue. I'm not dumb. But here on this forum I thought it's a bit more relax and I can look at the issues from a zoomed out perspective and I see activists destroying everything good. And I might add ... modern day activists look nothing like those who fought to free slaves, those who fought for genuine equality, but they all want to claim to be just like those good activists in the old eras. As for the FB page I have not joined. I'm sick of FB and no longer a user.
  3. Thanks for the survey link. I've just done my submission too! It's ridiculous they want to drive fishers away by creating this marine park. It's sad what's happening to Australia under the influence of the greens.
  4. You are awesome! You told them what depth and how far? That's such important info. I might have left when you stopped by. I cast to the centre of the channel, paternoster rig, and let it sink tot he bottom just like ozeash described, but got no bites. I was hoping for bream last night. Thanks for sharing the info that your sounder picked up a lot of fish there. Hopefully I'll get a chance to go fishing again and I'll try Illawong bay again.
  5. Nice catch there! So were you fishing from a boat? From Google maps I can't see any land based spots in or around Jerusalem bay. Having read ozeash's post above about breams and bonitos in this spot (Illawong Bay) I was excited to go and try it out. I used cooked prawns which I'm told is gun bait for bream. But no bites. Maybe hairtails are not bothered by the noise, but maybe breams are different. Or maybe the spot has been fished out. Anyway the 20 to 30 (or maybe 40? not sure) people there last night didn't seem to be getting any bites either. They all seem to be targeting hairtails too! Using pillies, LED float lights and glittering lights that are supposed to attract hairtails, but no one seems to be getting any actions except their constant castings.
  6. The fact is no one seems to be getting any bites or hookup there at all tonight.
  7. Oh, you went there tonight too? You think physics disagree? Well, I don't know, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who believe noise can spook the fish. I've always been told noise can spook the fish!
  8. I reckon all the talking (and a girl screaming too) scared the fish way. I can't believe they took really young kids there, and by the looks of it they look like they were planning on staying late. It was already 8:30 pm when I packed up and left and they were still there, and the young girl kept screaming while the old blokes yell from one side of the bank to the other side.
  9. Went there tonight. Too many people there bombing the water with their heavy sinkers. They reeled in and re-cast so frequently, but what is worst is they kept TALKING. So annoyed by those people.
  10. I think the worst thing about the legislation is that it sends out the wrong message ... that wearing a life jacket will save you. I think it's going to give idiots the idea that because they've got a life jacket on they'll be OK to go rock fish no matter the condition. I think the life jacket will render cleats and fishing boots useless when the swell is high enough to reach the life jacket. Without the life jacket the cleats might still be of some use. I think if the government is serious about safety they should build rails around those rocket platforms to keep people from being washed in to the water. Or perhaps fit hooks into the rocks so people could keep themselves attached to those hooks via safety harness. Anyway, my main concern: Idiots will put on life jackets and go rock fishing without thinking about the swells.
  11. Guys, Illawong bay is part of the national park right? I understand I'll have to pay entry fee to get in there, but is it also subject to opening and closing time? Is there a boom gate that would close at closing time which means I won't be able to there and fish at night?
  12. Hi Guys, Looking at Google map the waters around Taronga zoo appears to be pretty much only accessible by boat is that right? Does anyone know any spot near that water that are accessible for landbased fishing? Thanks guys!
  13. R&B, Ah, I think I got it now. Thanks a lot for clarifying. I was thinking about a sand bar when I asked my question. But I learnt from your answer that in the absence of a sand bar the wash at the back of the wave is the sweet spot. I never thought of this, as I've been reading up on how to read the beach from the wave and was thinking about sand bar only. Now I'm armed with another piece of very helpful info, thanks heaps! JC
  14. Hi Rock&Beach, May I ask ... "the back of the break" means casting further out over the break or shorter cast into the water after the break? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question as I'm not sure which side of the break is back and which is front. Thanks! JewCraze
  15. And is it true that they hunt by sight and therefore more active when there's light (including moonlight)?
  16. Thanks Nyxy! Next time I'll flick a squid jig in there :-)!
  17. Ah I see what you mean now.
  18. I agree that people leaving fish, mince and bread mess etc ... is BAD. But banning everyone seems excessive. Maybe they should impose a fine of x hundreds of dollars for leaving those stuff on the jetty (littering). As for the lights not being fixed for the 'proper place' that doesn't seem to be a problem. Everyone seems to bring their own lamp, head lamp, torch etc ... and there seems to be lots of people there. My 8 year old boy commented about that 'proper place' as the spot infested by those noodle eating people (now, I'm not being racist, I eat noodles too). There seems to be lots of people fishing there with their gas stoves boiling hot water making coffees and instant noodles etc ... having a party there. The lack of lights doesn't seem to be a problem.
  19. Awesome! Thanks again everyone for all your replies! ?
  20. I realised this thread is several years old. Maybe fishing in the baths at balmoral was allowed back then. There's a sign that says fishing from the bath structure is prohibited now, and even casting out over the hand rail (not in the bath) is not allowed. We were told off by this lady who said she works for the council. It's a shame!
  21. Thank you so much guys! I don't have a boat so my options are restricted to land based only. I'm thinking about either going to narrabeen beach, the rock cliff to the right of the aquatic reserve at shelly beach (which I've never been too but my colleague told me he caught quite a lot there, but I've also been told a bit of a climb is required and it's a bit dangerous) , or just try hawkesbury river (e.g. berowra waters, mooney boat ramp, or brooklyn). I guess I'll have to make up my mind which one to try first. JewCraze
  22. Hello raiders, OK, so I've read on the internet that every year during the winter months tailors from nsw migrate up north to Fraser Island to spawn. I've read that as they travel up north they might stop by the northern beaches along the way. My question is: Does this mean the chance of hooking up legal size tailors in our estuaries during winter will be significantly reduced? Also, what happens to the tailors spawned in Fraser Island? Do they travel back down to nsw and enter our estuaries during summer? Thanks in advance! JewCraze
