  1. I had a near identical experience about 2nonths ago, about 300m up from the bridge. Hundreds of big mullet schooled together and I couldn't get anything. After a while, I tried throwing out a tiny whiting popper, jerking it a couple of times and then letting it float on the water above them with no movement at all. They would slowly suck it in and I ended up getting about six of them. They were huge, about 1.5kg each!
  2. I've been getting some beach worms lately to try for some bream off the beach at Wollongong. Had some good success last Monday, with 2 bream at 34cm and 33cm and 1 at 28cm. Also got loads of small flattys and 1 whiting. Does anyone know if the bream come on during the winter? Cheers
  3. Nice fish! I'm still trying to get my first flathead on SP. can't wait!
  4. Sorry about the wait guys, here are some photos from the day
  5. Sorry about the long wait mate, I have just been shown how to upload photos, but here is one of the photos
  6. Thanks for the help mate! Not the best pic. Though the only one I have. Now I know how to upload them, there will be more pics! cheers
  7. I do mate, though I'm trying to figure out how to get them on here as it keeps saying the file is too big?
  8. Gday Raiders, just a short report on this mornings beach fish at puckeys beach. Went yesterday arvo to get some beach worms on the low tide, which I have only tried twice before with next to no success. Though this time I found my rhythm and manages about 10 worms. fished this morning for 2 whiting and the one flathead. As soon as the whiting came on the bite, the N/E wind ripped up, making it too hard to keep fishing. Anyway, decent feed for tonight
  9. Some awesome fish there mate, well done!
  10. Good luck mate, let me know how you go
  11. Mate, if you got a really nice flat calm day, you could take it out of the break walls no problems at all. I fished out of a 13ft 35 year old Quintrex about 3km out from those break walls and cleaned up. Inside the harbour is very calm. Along the eastern break wall it averages about 12m deep and can hold some decent fish
  12. No mate, just me and dad in an old 13.5ft yellow quintrex
  13. Mate you will always catch plenty of salmon off the beach at Stanwell Park using Ganged pillies. The only thing is it gets absolutely packed these days. People crowd the beach and leave all of their rubbish and fishing line/hooks all over the place. I had to pull a line with hooks attached to it out of my dogs mouth last week while taking him for a walk. Anyway, good luck on Friday, and don't be afraid to tell people to take their rubbish with them if you see them leaving it behind. cheers
  14. Ended up heading out off Port Kembla yesterday at 4.30am to have a fish on the reefs around the 5 islands. we did a bit of trolling around the islands with some deep divers for some kings with no luck, only a massive Sargent baker took the lure. Switched it up and put on a surface lure, only for a barracouta, no kings. had a bottom bash on the reefs with some good success. Picking up 3 very good sized Morwong, 5 nice plate sized snapper, various other reef species. We decided to head out to the sandy bottoms and have a drift for some flathead, got 3 blue spot at 45cm. We were just about out of bait when we pulled in a solid slimy mackerel, which we cut up and it kept us fishing a little longer. we were back on the reef looking for a few more snapper when I hooked up. I thought I'd hooked into a decent snapper, though when I saw the colour coming up from the depths, it was my dream come true, my first yellow tail kingfish! Only a small rat, coming in at 48cm, I didn't care, still a kingy! Anyway, great day out on the water and a great feed. cheers.
  15. Thanks for the advice guys, really appreciate it. I'll be sure to post an update afterwards. The weather is looking perfect do fingers crossed!
  16. Great read, thanks for the post!
  17. sorry guys I've posted this in the wrong section, does anyone know how i can move it to the relevant section?
  18. hello everyone, I am hoping for a little bit of advice here on chasing kings and bonito outside of Port Hacking. I am hoping to head out of Port Hacking early Monday morning (weather permitting) and will be fishing between Wattamolla and Bate Bay. Target species will be Kingfish and Bonito. I have tried trolling a few different lures along here in the past with no luck.Has anyone caught these fish here before? if so, how did you catch them? and whereabouts? Also if this fails, does anyone know of a decent drift around here for flathead or a snapper spot thats not too far out? (its only a small boat). Any help at all will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  19. Haha mate it will happen, also I was there Monday! I went Tuesday aswell though had bigger all luck!
  20. Fished the port on Tuesday, got one legal whiting (37cm) and that was it for about 5 hours! Tonnes of little reds and undersize whiting and bream. Where are the fish?!
  21. You can fish on a low, though it's much better on a high. If the swell is coming from the south it's extremely protected and dead flat. You can fish when swells from the north, though only a smaller swell
  22. Sure is mate, it's a little hard in summer when the NE wind is blowing straight into you. Though on a nice calm day, about an hour before sunset, I use pink or green jigs, 2.5 or 3 depending on the conditions. Some solid squid there
