  1. recovery's kicking along alright besides me left shoulder which is still... yeah I'm going to amputate it. got a single blister about the size of a 5c coin on my shoulder surrounded by a bunch of much smaller ones. looks like Uluru if id be honest & the temptation to poke it is killing me more than the sunburn itself. My first serious sunburn, i think. I know i had one as a kid on my lower back digging a giant hole as a kid at kurnell and my shirt wasnt covering that section and i got a itch so unbearable its comparable to any medevial torture. My aunt was telling a story when she was up at yamba as a kid she got a sunburn so bad on her back, her whole back was one blister. i "usually" do aswell, but first time out in a long while, guess i just forgot how bad the sun can be. ill get revenge on that ball of gas one day.
  2. hope all is well, even on the mental side of things where one may be afraid to drive again. ute looks like its in half decent condition. hopefully the subframe isnt bent

If you’d won it, what would you do?
  4. can always use it as crab bait or shark bait. some asain fellows do like eating them though
  5. nice haul there. 2 and a half bonito is pretty good, presume youll salt them down?
  6. Should’ve thrown a hook out! Sight fishing at its best. Solid bag of whiting too. plenty of sharks about, I was only speaking to a bloke down at Wally’s who catches them regularly on the national park side if the hacking and audly
  7. Well I took the kayak out yesterday to hit up the flats at gunnamatta. Left my ‘sunscreen’ at home which is basically a very thin jacket. ‘I’ll be fine, it’s cloudy’. Well fast forward 24hrs and me arms are tender as all hell and had a case of ‘sun poisoning’ this morning which included chucking my guts out and dizzyness sun protection lads, use it. If you forget it get it. Dosnt help when your skin is the same colour as the message box I’m writing this in ether. and no, I didn’t catch anything worthwhile which makes this even worse. I don’t use sunscreen as it makes me rash up so long clothing it is. probably more important is a set of good Sunnys which I always have nearby
  8. send over a a hot coal instead
  9. bummer. thats fishin though. when i fish there from the yak i like to drop an anchor and throw out a big burley trail. ive been keen as to get out on the yak but would only do it during the weekdays when boat traffics down.
  10. good bag there mate, haven't heard much with kings inside the hacking yet. plenty of squid about though
  11. Awesome way to spend some time of work. Love the jacks, I’d also like to catch one one day. Thanks for the read
  12. some very good greenies there, you'll be making yowie hungry.
  13. If she likes multi day beach fishing sessions sure thing let’s swap
  14. Forgot about the trailer needed to cart all that crap, possible you’d need a kenworth. as for myself, it depends where and how long I’m going for. If it’s a local trip in the bay or river I’d take a rod or two, a chair, a bottle of water all my fishing tackle, bait and sometimes a bait esky and rod holders longer multi day trips I’d take the entire house with me, a swag, the swags stretcher, blankets, meat, bbq, coal, clothes, 3-4 rods, a fridge, a table, lights, battery’s, munchies, cases of water
  15. although outside you're budget, i have the oztent king kokoda chair. had it for nearly 5 years, on sand, in the pissing rain and salt and its near brand new. Its by far the most comfortable chair i have ever used. weighs like 5 kgs and 150kg rating and most importantly has a insulated stubby holder

    Might be moving

Mate anyone would die for beach access like that! Amazing part of the world down there you got.
  17. As a kid my dad caught one at Kurnell and offerd me to hold it for a photo so I did just that and got shocked to the crap house
  18. awesome summary. those long posts do indeed take a good chunk of time. Would be great to see them continue into the future
  19. Caught something which is all that matters. My top spot for mullet is Cronulla ferry wharf at night. Burley with bread crust by crumbing it directly out front and wait. It takes about 15-20 odd minutes for the mullet to come so in the meantime just try your luck for squid or yellowtail. You’ll know they show up when you see the boils/small splashes on the surface. By then throw small chunks of crust and and turf some out on a tiny hook with no sinker or float directly out front. It should float amongst the burly and you’ll know your on when you’re chunk of bread disappears which you give a nice sharp strike. Mostly sight fishing, the areas the mullet hang out is about 10 meters from the jetty in the area between the darkness and light from the wharf
  20. I hate npws. It’s a business all Designed for profits and to make enjoying what’s left of this great state as inconvenient as possible. I don’t care about having to pay entry frees or a 3 day permit. Look at Stockton beach where you can only camp in designated camp sites on the southern end of the beach, your not allowed to camp on a random section of the beach for what reason? They cannot monitor it? It massively inconvenient to arrive to a spot, spend the night fishing there to then have to pack all your crap up and drive back to the designated camping areas to find a group of teenagers on their red p plates limiter bashing their shtbox rust tub. And blasting music all night. And what If you’re fishing up the northern end as the southern end is absolutely packed with people having the same idea. It isn’t hard to camp on the beach and get a way with it, but you have to be up at the crack of dawn to pack your swag away and you’re constantly on edge, which brings the point. What’s the point of camping to relax and having a good nights rest if you’re on edge about getting pulled up by a ranger for committing the ‘serious’ crime of sleeping on a random section of beach causing absolutely no harm to anything. Most of Nsw beaches are like this. one of their excuses for banning beach camping it is the protection of shore birds which makes absolutely no sense as people drive up and down the beach all day. All my camping is based around pulling up to a juicy section of beach, setting up camp, wetting a line and enjoying myself for a few day. This is partly what made south Australia’s dog fence so appealing as I don’t have to pack my sleeping crap away before 7am each morning.
  21. did pretty good for forgetting the most important thing you need while fishing. Brings back a memory of having 2 of the same 2 pce rods in different sizes, so with a good trip up port Stephens i brought the 3kg bottom half and the 1/2kg top half
  22. bloody nice fish mate! long leader is a pain i agree, especially with a swivel. Seems you have a nice bit of consistency with dolly as of late & i'm yet to catch my first 🤣
