    GPS tracking

Some of the commercial/fleet trackers look good but not sure about the battery side of things. If you need to connect to your main boat battery that would be pointless. If you could find a smaller battery and hide both the tracker and battery that could work better.

    GPS tracking

I’m looking at installing a GPS tracker in my boat as I will be parking it out the front of my house. Has anyone done the same can they recommend a tracking device for theft etc?
  3. Hi lakelad, no fancy rig just a running paternoster and J hook through the eye. The garfish were dead and used whole. When filleting the fish we found a garfish in one and a small mullet in the other. Haven't used garfish before either but couldn't resist as they were everywhere.
  4. Fished the Hastings river Saturday night and ended up with three nice Jewies. Two over 80cm and 1 at 70cm. The river was full of garfish which made it easy to scoop them up with the net and use as bait.
  5. You could try along Hasting river drive. There is a rowing club behind the football fields that has good/easy access. Further down the road past the whalebone restaurant is also worth a look.

    Electric motor

Looks great! Have you allowed for the wiring to go underneath or are you just running the wires over the top?

Hi TC, no plate between motor and hull but I think you can buy a quick release plate for them. The pack came with bolts (extra long) and rubber gromets. I ended up putting some aluminium square tubing under the hull and bolting through that for extra strength. Mine is a 12volt 55lb 54" You won't regret your purchase!

Fairly happy with the end result. Hasn’t let me down yet. I cut the rails a bit wider than I needed too
  9. Thanks bluefin I fish the Hastings as well, some great articles there.

    Rust spots

I know I haven't had a grinder near my boat but I have drilled a couple of holes... Maybe I didn't clean it up that well either. Could it be electrolysis??

    Rust spots

I’ve had my quintrex for about 6 months purchased 2nd hand in good condition. I’ve started to notice small rust spots on the gunwhales. I wash and rinse the boat after every use and have been using T20 wash n wax, I’m beginning to think this might be doing more harm than good. Has anyone got any ideas how to get rid of or prevent these rust spots.

    Electric motor

JUst purchased a motor guide over the weekend. Looking for the best position to mount the base, might have to cut the rails so I can bolt it down. In this position I can still get to the anchor.

    Electric motor

I was thinking about just buying one and seeing were it would best fit. Frank, I like the idea of mounting it near the transom but I would like a bit of weight up the front to keep the nose down when solo. Does anyone have recommendations for shaft length and lbs of thrust?

Thanks for the info guys. I was hoping not to cut or weld any parts of the boat but it looks like I might have to.
