  1. yeah scooping up the dead carp is not a major issue here lol they will likely do systematic releases of the virus in selected systems followed by clean up efforts, they wont all die at once and turtles, foxes, yabbies and shitloads of birds also will take their share where we cannot clean. There would be some dead fish around but probably only an issue in still water, and yeah maybe one step back to many steps forward as Cod are easily bred and once the carp are gone restocking will happen really quick.
  2. Try longer casts, they are a finicky fish usually see you before you see them (just coz they don't swim away doesn't mean they are unaware of you) if you draw them out into the open and you can see them, they are sometimes too wary. I Had similar happen with some donkeys recently going for a 100mm bent minnow thrown for trevs, they followed and kissed it a few casts, can be frustrating haha
  3. Gday Hamish, ratio wont matter mate the poppers and plastics you'll be "working" them (stop, start, hop etc.) and as for divers well you wont want high speed your just doing a few jerks and winds and slow rolling whilst keeping it in the zone as long as possible. What you want to focus on is that the drag is smooth when set heavy. You may need to "lock it up" (for oyster covered pilons etc. that hold big ones) and you dont want it pulsing or sticky.
  4. @Jewhunter thanks very much mate your a legend!
  5. Hi raiders! Was hoping someone could help me to find some mid to large Giant Trevally around SE QLD. any help much appreciated! thanks

  9. @Marto im gonna try my darndest to catch my first tuna this summer mate, however upon testing my new setup ive had three 100% definate king strikes one was 1m+ so im trying hard at those at the moment but there hard up here especially where i fish
  10. yeah its one of those places theres definately fish there but hard to target lol
  11. and save up for your braid. fully research the highest breaking strain PE 3-4 you can get and the spool will hold 4-500m so you will need 500m or 1km, get it spooled by someone highly experienced or do it yourself under heavy drag (then before casting, do something like put a surface lure on and drift it out 100m and wind it back on so your casting distance braid isn't bedded in when you do your first cast causing loops to pull out and knotting etc on your first session.)
  12. I'm running that exact setup for Land based game, The one thing to note on the Demonblood 962mh is that the recommended cast weight is way off (50-120g) , it will cast from 30g - 90g nicely with the sweet spot being around 70g and casts 60-80g lure 60-70m. Awesome rod for the price though, the newer Version 2 is blue you should be able get the V1 which is red for really cheap.
  13. Itchy twitchy wont like the 8g lures. i dont throw over 6g with it but it will throw a 3-4g hardbody a mile you will be so surprised. Your catch rate will go up if you fish lighter, smaller and you will hook decent fish on tiny lures as well as the smaller stuff and if your into catch and release as i am, small fish on light gear=good times (not waiting for a bite finally - you will go out and bend your rod). The GB rods all fight fish really well, bagged near 40cm bream with the Itchy Twitchy 2 fine
  14. OK so my CS coatings seal coat did not stick to the existing finish and flaked off unfortunately, however it has still bonded and sealed to the teeth marks, indents and damage and should stop it from absorbing water.
  15. Gday Raiders Starting a Thread about the Gold Coast Seaway as i fish it a lot recently for kingys and wonder if any other Raiders fish it? Anyone get jew on the Surface there before? Tracking Kingy's? Anyone target the massive Tuskfish i see along the rocks all the time? Should i be throwing sinkers at the boats that have no courtesy for shore fisherman? haha jokes yeah but comment with your catches and recommendations please! Any locals who havent yet check out what comes through there on youtube there is always vids going up
  16. FYI - upon closer inspection, FCL Labo lures do have a thin layer of epoxy on but very thin and prone to flake off
  17. @dirvin21 yeah they are (expensive) Japanese lures, more game casting lures popular with the LBG community however they do do smaller stuff aswell. So I epoxied all of my FCL's today with CS Coatings Seal-coat which is very thin and have not wanted to use it for this but as i now know they take on water i will use it to slow any further damage and keep my poppers sitting sweet. The CS Coatings Seal-coat needs many coats to get a thick finish (however it dries incredibly fast) so today i did 4 coats (adding approx 2g) and the finishes look fine with this product. When i receive my Devcon 2 ton i will weigh in on that aswell. thanks
  18. Howdy Raiders, Just thought id start a thread about FCL labo lures as they are fantastic but there are few things about these lures that id like to discuss. Firstly they have amazing finishes and work amazing! however, they seem to not epoxied at all and damage very easily even just from the impact with the water when casting. As well a this they are made of a high density foam which is supposed to not take on water which is false i had a guy run over my ebipop today in his jetski and i lost the lure for about 2hrs by the time it was located it was barely on the surface with cup facing the sky vertical in the water and weighed a maybe 10 - 20% more. I would like to epoxy my FCL lures but i have a few minor concerns id like help with, A. the surface lures being slightly heavier and not being as effective B. the epoxy not working with the paint/foiling on the lure and causing bubbling. I plan to use Devcon 2 ton epoxy i have ordered from the states it seems to be what a lot of lure makers recommend that wont effect the paint. PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS TRIED THIS ON OTHER LURES OR CAN WEIGH IN ON THE SUBJECT OF EPOXYS or FCL LABO MUCH APPRECIATED. THANKS RAIDERS!!
  19. @PhilK i tagged you in a thread with my mobile number mate or email me brettpetermengler@gmail.com and ill come out with you i go every day at sunup
  20. @PhilKGday mate , jump on google earth and look at these: - Point lookout (nth Strabroke is) top spot hard to get to but very deep off ledge and known to produce big fish. - gold coast seaway - fingal headland (tweed) - cabarita headland - broken head (snapper rock) - lennox heads
  21. thanks @Jewhunter! . Sweet as @PRED-ATOR i might try snapper rock on the above map it is quite deep straight off the ledge according to the charts. Im gonna go down for a recon tomorrow morning and possibly have a spin either there or jews point. @PRED-ATOR gimme a text if ya wanna come along mate 0458 276 836 or just contact me if ya wanna throw lures sometime im not working at the moment so always keen
