  1. So I’ve heard mate I’m keen to give that stretch of the river a crack this season
  2. Thanks mate I’ll jump on maps and have a look! 👍🏽
  3. Gday raiders, bass season is upon us now and I’m just wondering if anyone has any good kayak launch spots for upper reaches of the nepean around Yarramundi? I know this stretch of the river holds some solid models of bass and I wanted to try some new areas this season since I’m located in Camden and usually fish down river around Camden towards Douglas park. im also open to any spots around windsor and Penrith if they aren’t to busy since the warmer weather does bring out the casuals and families which fill up the boat ramps real quick Tight lines & good luck this season 🔥
  4. The water quality has improved over the past 10 years or so Years in dramatic fashion it’s been rewarding putting effort into local systems and finally being able to put a bag together I grew up in campbelltown so the Georgesriver is the closest stretch of water to me and I’ve fished it fresh and salt regularly but it was rubbish till about a decade ago it slowly started changing, the kings haven’t been up the George’s since the 50 or 60s I think so that’s got me pumped up to know that it’s making a proper come back with its sport fish to catch and release fishing and the ban of trawlers/commercial fishing has also made a huge difference
  5. The big fish must be attracted to them my set up never got touched and I was fishing lighter haha
  6. I’ve been fishing these systems for awhile now and I’ve watched the conditions get better over time it’s been rewarding
  7. Gday raiders first time I’ve been on since the website refresh and it’s a fresh a breathe air that’s for sure lol this post is from easter since I haven’t been active on this platform due to work but here we are i went out for a lazy flick Easter flick with the family on the long weekend at picnic point, we were hoping we caught enough fish to keep us entertained even if they were small. The tides were in our favour with the peak of the high at about 12pm and we had got our first baits in the water at about 11:30am which were left over king prawns from Good Friday that didn’t get finished they turned out to do damage since they were cooked and held on the hook forever 😂 We were on from the first cast with a few 20cm to legal bream for about an hour on both of the kids rods while my 2-4kg bait set up was untouched the entire time, the whole family landed solid fish for the last 3 hours of the session the bite was hot with my partner jagging a 34cm model and My daughter a 36.5cm both cracking PB and also myself all on the kids set up at 43cm easily 2kg plus, all fish were released with all the kids letting their own fish go, nothing like watching big bream swim off 🔥 We were packing up when I had seen something in the corner of my eye since I had polaroids on I could see the commotion through the water and it was a pack of 6 kingfish around the 70cm mark harassing poddy mullet in about 30cm of water on a small bank next to where we were fishing it was something that happened so fast I couldn’t get footage but will never forget, The George’s river has come along way from what I remember it as a kid but I’m glad my kids are experiencing the same river with some life finally it was a memorable day for the family fishing that’s what it’s all about !
  8. Hey mate have fished the George’s landbased for years but never had luck launching the fresh side of the weir besides the bridge at glenny shoot me a dm bro I’ll Be keen to have a chat about it I fish the neapean because it has better kayak access but I fish the Georgesriver on the regular
  9. I’d probably only keep the one fish, I had a feeling that would be the case with them since they’re so aggressive when you fish for them as well, did you get your bass from an aquarium or did you just get a micro bass from the river?
  10. I never thought of getting a cod but I’d happily get one over a bass tbh! Did you have to get an aquarium to order you one?
  11. Hey raiders, I’ve been looking into getting a fish tank set up either saltwater reef style or a solitary fish either a mangrove jack or Australian bass or Barramundi if I can get one in Sydney as a fingerling. The Aussie bass would have to be number 1 on my list as it would be close to the top of my list for fish to catch! If anyone has one Or any of these fish at home I’d be open to hear how you got started and what common problems you run into with these fish! tight lines, SWFisho 🤙🏽
  12. Thanks for the tip bro I’ve been doing so much research this leads me in the rod direction 👍🏽
  13. Gday raiders I’m heading up to port Stephens just after chrissy I’m staying in Corlette, I’m towards the mouth so I’ll have to go for a little drive to launch my yak since it might be a tad rough around where I’m staying I’m hoping to crack some PBS for a few species while I’m there I’ve heard these some big whiting that get around in the area. I’m hoping to rip into some stonker bass while I’m up that way And was wondering if anyone on here had any ideas on where I could launch and find them in the local systems in the area, I’m not to sure how far down river I’ll have to travel to find the fresh water so any tips are helpful. ive just had a baby so I’ll be on daddy duty till I go away, so I’ll be doing as much research on this system and the surroundings before I head up, feel free to shoot me a message if your up that way and wanna link up for a flick or have any secrets for me about the area 🤫 tight lines 🤙🏽
  14. That’s the spot I go to mostly, I was thinking of heading up river more to see if I could crack some bigger ones I feel like the upper reaches of the nepean only hold resident fish they’re there in numbers but not in size
  15. Gday raiders, with bass season well and truly underway I was looking to hit the local nepean river but try between bents basin and Penrith I haven’t fished much past camden but further down towards menangle I’ve had some luck but they all seem to be resident fish around the area. I’m not sure where I can launch from besides the boat ramp near the bridge in Windsor, so if anyone has any good spots to launch a kayak with minimal boat traffic I’m all ears, I’m open to any other spots along the river that’ll hold the bigger models! Tight lines & good luck !
  16. I’m a catch and release fisho most of the time man. But I also wouldn’t recommend eating the fish up until around como where the water clears up 😂
  17. Cheers boys will keep you updated 🤙🏽
  18. I fish the George’s on the reg hopefully I get lucky and hook one soon 🙌🏽
  19. With fishing for some of us being difficult at the moment I finally built up the courage to hit chippo after driving past it all my life to fish the upper reaches of the George’s or down the coast. After being in lockdown I couldn’t help but sneak out to some saltwater for a flick and what better time to do it then now, It took me awhile to understand that there is fish there and now my fishing journey has finally lead me there. The tide was starting to come in so I launched the yak from the ramp on Henry Lawson at the mouth of the lake at about 6:45 then headed up river and started the drift just before the millperra bridge back towards the mouth of the lake and then back into the lake to fish the slack water and edges since I thought that was a fair game plan after never fishing these waters. After going for a solid paddle I sounded up some good fish but couldn’t get any to bite I wasn’t sure what to throw either after having stint off the water due to lockdown I was abit rusty tbh haha, so it was back to basics and after fishing for an hour or so I picked up a 30cm flatty on a 2.5” zman grub in motor oil, my first fish from chippo, my goal was a EP, bream, or jew but I was on the board and I was happy. As the tide came in I ended up on the opposite side of the lake at a creek mouth which was out of cover, after a few casts I had some bites and i found some fish and next thing I know I was on out comes the net and I was was stoked to see a bream just shy of legal but healthy and thick in the net after a quick hook removal he was off I fished for another 45 minutes or so and decided to call It quits after I got some knots in my spool that my braid picked up from the rubbish in the lake. All in all the session was a success in exploring new grounds and finding some fish. I’m excited to dive into the secrets of the ocean of the west and hopefully figure out the pattern to local water way that I’ve abandoned for so long! I’ll definitely be back chippo! Tight lines, SWFisho 🤙🏽
  20. Definitely put my skills to the test was lucky enough to be close enough to the fish also after ending up in the water so I had the fight in my favour after that, I’ll definitely be burying them from here on in hopefully the local kids don’t go digging lol I’d like to get a gaff of some sort to land them might make one out of an old broom stick 🤣
  21. Most of the fish should push around to the inside the mouth ready to spawn the fish will be inside the lake more then likely where all the bait will be taking cover
  22. Carp on a lure is one of my trophy catches, the thought of catching one on a small plastic makes me excited I’ll be sure to give a crack when I head inland to tick some more fresh water species off
  23. I wasn’t sure if was gonna land one or not but next time I’ll be packing the knife and it’ll be a Eradication session, I’m not sure how to dispose of them once they’re finished, I know people hang them in the trees but I’m not the type of person to do that people bury tilapia but that’s because of various reasons
  24. Hope everyone’s been staying strong during these tough times, everyone’s had to change the way they fish with everything that’s going on especially us bream fishos, but I’ve found the myself chasing the elusive carp and after checking in a few times and with my fair share of donut sessions I finally cracked a wild river carp on the Nepean that I was after. I’ve been chasing wild Carp in the river system for a couple of weeks now or longer and it’s taken me few sessions to figure out the system again since the floods everything has moved and changed it actually looks like totally different system. Also finding the fish first then the way they feed in such a big system was challenging at times but I finally cracked it. This felt all new to me since it wasn’t just carp feeding off the surface like it is in ponds and lakes around the, this was actually very interesting with all the research I ended up doing they aren’t as dumb as everyone thinks and all fish need respect I’m glad I had the connection with the one I caught today and learnt what I did In depth about these fish I headed down to a spot on the Nepean river At about midday, after I arrived at my spot that was packed with locals I made my way down to a spot where I could get a stretch of river to myself which is abit of a steep drop off since the floods have washed the river banks away, I decided to get my bread and corn baits out and my home made burley cranking. After about 45 minutes of no action I decided to burley up again about an into my session I was on, I had 2 set ups out and it took the lighter set up of course. my 2500 reel was screaming I had 6lb braid and 8lb leader on my Light set up so I knew I couldn’t pull to hard after a 25 minute battle and being dragged down the bank into the water with my phone falling in also i successfully landed my first wild river carp and also my PB going 75cm to the fork And approx weighing around 5kg+ After a few pictures I returned the fish to the water I couldn’t dispatch of the fish humanly so I decided to release it, I then wrapped it up after being soaked, plus having fish slime all over me from climbing up the bank with this brute in my arms and being harassed by local kayaking gangs of kids was enough for me to call it a day. Tight lines Swfisho 🤙🏽
