  1. Went  out with my mate John,  fished out of my boat on Friday 30 April.

Hawkesbury Park boat ramp at 8.00am and anchored close and south of Captain Cooks Bridge Botany Bay side

Day before pumped about 50 nippers at at Sandringham.

Tied was last two hours moving to high

In the first half hour hooked 4 bream undersized...

We only wanted to fish for a couple for hours so did not want to move  ... burlyed up more and added a tin of oily sardines, a  left over from one of my lunches days before I chucked in the freezer.

Next hour I landed 2 bream  largest 30cm and a trevally... my mate John landed a trevally about same size. See pics

Right on high tied ... no more bites so packed up and went home

Not many fish but enjoyed the morning out.

BTW... The 2 trevally I made sashimi that night ,so fresh with soy and wasabi . My mum rarely eats sashimi.. but she said she knows its fresh:D

    Cheers

  2. Great mixed bag Rob...

Would have any of those on my plate

Hacking can turn out some great fishing without the constant wash of the ferries and large cruisers as you get in Sydney harbor.

Went out to Sydney harbor last week and the water started to clear up...

  3. Went luderick fishing last week.... at Chowder Head

Took a drive to Mona Vale to collect some cabbage and weed.. had a chat with a fellow fisho who bagged out with 10 luderick.... fishing Mona Vale baths rocks. He said he was there 2 days before with no luck. he lost 2 luderick to the Ospreys as he washed them up.. how cool is that... he said it scared the shit out of him hahaha

Got to Chowder Head about midday and fished for 3 hours. about mid tied

    Hooked 5 luderick landed 3....

    Used cabbage and sand burly...

looks like the luderick are starting to come in for spawning season as they where nice and fat.

    Cheers

  4. Great place to fish

Fish the north side of Chowder Head (Chowder Bay) straight opposite the old Navy Base.. look for a patch of oysters. Good place for Luderick and Bream. you can only fish this place at low tied as the rocks get covered on high tide.

The south side (Taylors Bay) look for the larger flat area see map above in this post, good place for luderick, bream, leather jacket,

East side deeper waters, look for the rocky outcrop.. for Jew fish and paraplegics Can only fish this at low tide , water will come up to your knees and waist depending on the level of high tide.

If your fishing for luderick bring your own weed or cabbage as not much there. There is sand on the south side for burley

Be safe, as it gets slippery especially after rain,

As you fish the area more often you will get to know the tracks

Warning There are ticks in the bush (I know as i got one on me as the weather warms up) wear long sleeves, long pants and a broad brim hat, no guarantee to keep them off but helps.

    Good Luck

  5. Hi all,

Been fishing Chowder Point since my last post with mixed results.

Last Sunday was the most interesting session as I had frozen cabbage to see how that would work having read about it on another post.

On  Thursday 27/8 headed up to northern beaches and collected some cabbage. went straight to Chowder Point for a couple of hours and landed 3 Lulerick see pic.

That night I froze the rest of the cabbage carefully after removing the water with a spinner,

On Saturday 28/8 went to the same spot with the frozen cabbage and landed only 1 Luderick for a 2 hour session. I did have a few downs but no other hooking ups

On Sunday 30/8 not deterred I had some more frozen cabbage in the freezer and I wanted to give it another try.. Fished for 2 hours and no downs. I find the cabbage floats and looks natural in the water but feels a little leathery on your fingers when baiting the hook.

I used burley with weed, bread and sand and could see flashes of fish. as the burley went down.

I decided to switch to bread as my bait, and started to get results with a mixed bag. see pic

Bream was 37cm, and Luderick to 34cm

I'm still going to tinker with frozen cabbage as as going to northern beaches has always been a bit of a drive for me... I'll be trying other spots, soon as this wind dies down, Port Hacking,  Kamay Botany Bay National Park, and La Perouse. Should be able to get weed at some of these spots as long as there are no restrictions.

Always good to bring some bait alternatives to mix it up a bit.

    Cheers
