  1. sorry to resurrect an old post, I'm going to do some exploring in the southern highlands. any tips on where to look for some streams close to moss vale/bowral area?
  2. gonna head there this weekend if the weather holds out, any tips where to start exploring?
  3. spooled it up with some mono backing and 4x 6lb daiwa braid this arvo.. it works!! with a 3.4gm bream crank bait i'm getting about 10m with just a light underarm throw, had a few backlashes until i worked out how to thumb it (this is my first baitcaster) and adjust the brakes to taste. will try and take it out to the park tomorrow morning and see what happens if load the rod up a bit more
  4. No replies...well anyways, I bought the 2018 Tatula 100h. Once I’ve got it setup I’ll report back on its performance...
  5. Anyone sporting one of these reels yet? Really like the compact form factor and simple controls, wondering how they go with saltwater and lures/jig heads in the 2-5gm range? The Daiwa product page says "finesse" but it seems a bit bit vague and unconvincing... Tossing up between a Tatula or a Daiwa Silver Wolf S SZ (wondering if this may be limiting?) for some light estuary stuff (yes I know a spin setup is more versatile but i want to add a baitcaster to the 4 spin and 3 fly setups i have), I know the Tatula will slay throwing heavier stuff but don't know about the Silver Fox (if anyone has any feedback on that model it would be appreciated too) Use: close quarters and shorter range/precise stuff with hardbodies, vibes and sp's Rod: Daiwa Lunkerhunter 6' 2-6kg Line: 6lb braid with leader ranging from 4-12lb depending on target.. (i know i can get a lighter spool for it but would prefer not to mod stuff just yet if possible...)
  6. Reckon it's worth the drive from Sydney or gonna be slim pickings?
  7. I have soft plastics and hard surface. Looking for something sub surface, thought these were the go
  8. After whiting & flatties in Sydney. What colours you reckon?
  9. I’m thinking train to Windsor then colo or Lithgow then cox’s kinda stuff. Anyone on here into that sort of thing?
  10. I'm keen to hit up sometime if anyone's keen
  11. Sweet as, cheers for the tip. I do a lot of km’s on and off-road so it wasn’t too difficult. I’ll suss out your suggestion on a map.
  12. Haha just to clarify I'm on a bike so not completely immobile.. On long weekend trained it to Blackheath then rode to the Cox's, found a nice little bit and there were trout! They were very skittish so I think I need to work on some stealth, Had some lunch and a couple of beers (I came prepared) then rode back out of Jenolan Caves road and onto to Lake Lyell, which was a bit of a non event due to people on boats.. Climbed back uphill out of there and then rode onto Lithgow and caught the train back to Sydney. Ended up being about 45km with roughly 1000m of climbing so nothing too painful. Looking forward to doing another day out there!
  13. anyone know of any decent streams close by to any train stations in the blue mountains?
  14. We'll be camping at Murphys Glen in the Blue Mountains soon just wondering if anyone can tell me if it's worth taking a rod or not?
