  1. Great write up mate 👏 thanks for sharing. And that Doc Lures episode is a good one, too. I think Greg also mentions a similar trait regarding lure choice. We all have that one or two that we swear by.
  2. Thanks @big Neil for the time out on the lake. I enjoyed it immensely, I only wish we had more time on the water. Alas, that bloody four letter word ruining things yet again! It was great to chat with such an experienced angler and despite being a Man(ure) United supporter, you turned out to be a great bloke too 😂 For the other Raiders, it needs to be mentioned that, Neil being the modest bloke he is, didn't mention that he drove near an hour.. 40kms..boat in tow.. just to get me on to my first freshwater fish. A gem of a man and a fine representative of the generous spirit and camaraderie of this forum. Aaaaand he left me with gifts of his own hand made pottery to take home with me! Hopefully we can catch up when you're in Sydney. I'll be sure to be in full Liverpool kit 😁
  3. Chomping at the bit @Little_Flatty Hopefully a successful report, come Sunday arvo 😁
  4. An opportunity to spend some time with big Neil? I'm down! Any of those species would be a first for me, so I'm eager 😁 luckily, I have a reel in the car spooled with some 10lb. I'm on my way at the moment. Left a bit later than I had wanted so I'm now aiming to arrive mid arvo today. I should have some time tomorrow morning as I won't need to be working until about Noon. Thank you for the offer. I've just sent you a text. Chat soon 👍 Chhay
  5. @big Neil sorry, I'm probably responsible. The fishing gods must've known I'd be in the area very soon. Just my luck.
  6. Thanks @motiondave I'll see grab some worms from a local tackle store and ask for some advice on the rest. Thanks @yella king. I have A couple blades. Will give them a try. Never head of the other lures you've mentioned. I'll see what I can find when I get there. Cheers fellas. Really appreciate the help 🤙

    Griffith

G'day Raiders, I'm heading down to Griffith over the weekend for work. Hoping to have some spare time while I'm there to have a flick. Wondering if anybody can point me in the general direction of any bodies of water I can fish? Lake Wyangan is all I can seem to find on maps. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, as I've never been down that way. Also never been much of a Freshwater fisho either. Thanks in advance, Chhay
  8. Tell me about it 😩 Maybe we should all do a collective whatever-the-opposite-of-rain-dance-is dance? I'll try anything at this stage Good to hear you're safe and dry. Hopefully it stays that way 👍
  9. Well done. Sounds like a fun arvo 👍 Try going a little West, near Leichhardt Leichardt Oval. Me and a mate had a bait session there a few nights ago. He landed 2 Bream, 29 and 38 cm.
  10. Great work! Well done fighting through the heat and humidity 👍looks like it's paying off.
  11. The more, the merrier! Not sure how my ego would fair, though 😂
  12. What a wicked looking fish. Well done 👍
  13. They're a pleasure to fish. Especially when paired with a light reel. I've got mine paired with a 2000 Daiwa Gekkabijin and that sits at just over 200 grams. And yes, the amount of choice in super light gear is dizzying! Hard to separate the quality from the marketing.
  14. Will add to that, I did see small Gars in numbers along the shoreline too.
  15. I'd like to throw in the Daiwa Infeet Z. 1-4kg, from memory 7'2" or 7'3". I have the model below and absutely love it. Handles Bream and Flatties well and is light as a feather. However, I'd suggest taking the TD Black reel and chucking it on to check the balance. I feel the reel may be a touch heavy for that rod.
  16. Thanks for the insight on the Mullet/pelagics. Yeah, I figured the Bream were sitting there watching me and thinking 'come on mate, try a bit harder 🙄. We're not that silly'
  17. I was thinking Mullet or Tailor, but I've fished there before in daylight and never seen Tailor around. Sambos.. so much fun on light gear. Love the photo. Shame we missed you, Mike. We were around the corner towards the Vic Rd bridge while you were there. No, thankfully the lightning didn't make it's way there. Oddly enough, when we got there the rain completely subsided. I've seen Kings cruising through during the day. Plenty of Bream up close too, but uninterested in any lures. Frustrating.
  18. Hahah. Great fun, Phil. I've got something lined up for our next session, too 😁 So they were Salmon! Will have a trawl through your posts. Any tips on targeting them? Particularly at night? We threw everything we had at them but no interest. Thanks 😊. We were sceptical with all the rain dirtying up the water. Thanks!
  19. Nice bream mate. Chunky one, too. Young fella must have enjoyed seeing it being brought up.
  20. Good evening Raiders, Just wanted to share a session @Obsessed Fisherman and myself had at Lilyfield last night. I've never had any luck night time lure fishing but Phil assured me success was possible, so I thought 'why not?' We met at the first spot at 10PM and were entertained by nothing but conversation and Mullet showing off their aerial abilities. Once the rain settled in, we decided to move around the corner and try our luck there. Second spot was quiet to begin with and again we were met with the acrobatic showings of Mullet all over. Phil thought they might have been another species, so while I was trying to catch my first night fish on a lure, Phil was desperately trying to catch whatever it was that was jumping. Having tried vibes, cranks, top water and grubs, I eventually settled on a 3inch paddle tail plastic and thought the tail's vibration would attract a bite. Aaaaaand it did 😁 Within the space of half an hour, I managed to land 3 Bream, ranging from low 20s to an impressive 35. Also losing one, setting the hook too a little too emphatically 🤦 Phil, in the meantime, never gave up on those jumping fish 😂. Unfortunately, no success there. All in all, a wet but fun night session. Thanks to Phil for getting me out past my bedtime 🤙 hopefully the first of many sessions together. Thanks for reading. Hope everybody manages to get out over the weekend 🎣
  21. Keep hearing they're not the best table fish. Haven't had a chance to decide for myself yet. I need to catch one first... Sounds like a fun session. Well done 👍
  22. Great Flatty you got there. Kings would've been fun too. Can I ask what setup(s) you used for the livies?
  23. Hi @slothparade Shame your mates bailed. I'd join you but I'm only just packing up at work now and I'm about an hour drive away. Best of luck mate, hope you find a buddy to go with. We'll definitely catch up for a session, hopefully soon. Take care, Chhay
  24. I feel your pain mate. Had a very late (8PM start) bait session yesterday with a mate around the Hunters Hill area Not even a nibble! Wouldn't have minded a Bream that size, that's for sure.
  25. Understand how you feel mate. Until recently, I was struggling too. With some advice and tuition from @DerekD, I'm feeling more confident. Still working on it though, need more time on the water. I'd highly advise reaching out, even if just for a chat. I feel some topwater success stories coming soon 😁
