Thanks for the replies fellas, but had to shelve all plans due to the bushfires. The whole of the Dargo high plains area was closed and still is. We instead headed north of Omeo and did the limestone Rd, Tom Groggin, Mt Pinitabo and Davies High Plain track, which was good fun in a lifted BT50. All the creeks were low, so didnt get a fish in. A great 4wd trip nonetheless, the scenery was fantastic with wild brumbies, roos, black snakes, black cockatoos, gang gang cockatoos, echinda and hordes of kookaburras. Was going to come back via Barry Rd into Jindabyne, but did an alternator belt on Limestone Rd. Getting someone out in that remote area to fix is another story! Cheers Terry

No worries Fishmore, thanks for the tip about Buckmore Hut. Unfortunately we will be south of the Davies Plain, so will have to check that out next trip. Thanks for the links Kingie Chaser, good to have heaps of info. Below is a rough itinerary of trip. Its our first trip, so nothing set in stone. Day 1-Leave Sydney, drive to Porepunkah near Bright Day 2-Sightsee in Bright area. Day 3-Drive to Swifts Ck on great alpine rd, then turn off and drive towards Dargo. Camp overnight outside of Dargo. Day 4-Check out Dargo, then drive north up Dargo High Plains Rd, turn off and drive to Mayford camping area on the Dargo river. Day 5-Fish the Dargo river(hopefully) Overnight again at Mayford. Day 6-Leave Mayford, drive to Blur Rag Range and check out views, then head South to Talbotville via the Basalt Knob track, overnight at Talbotville. Day 7-Billy goat bluff and the pinnacles, overnight at Talbotville Day 8-Drive to Wonnangatta homestead, stay overnight. Day 9& 10-Drive to Licola via Zeka spur, checking out any fishing spots to stay at. Day 11-Drive Licola to Jamieson, overnight at Jamieson. Think about fishing the lakes. Day 12-Drive home to Sydney. Have added a couple of days, and may add 1 more. We(wife and I) just didnt realise how much there is to do and see. Cheers Gandalph
  3. Gday all, am new to site after several years absence due to ill health and non fishing. However we intend to spend approximately 10 days 4wdrivng and fishing in the high country from next Sunday and was wondering if anyone knows of any spots where we could spin a lure or bait fish. The spots would need easy access as I have limited mobility at present, would be happy to just catch and release!
