  1. Mostly shovel nose but also one hammer head
  2. Got to the ramp at 5.30 on an awesome day my plan was to try the JD reefs off Cronulla. While getting our lives my son hooked a 60 cm Kingie on a black fish hook we set up on a dropper rig for yakkas what a show that was on 6lb line. So with our bait and a happy first mate we did the trip down off Cronulla to the reefs , picked our spot and got caned by rat kings to 63 cm five in total along with a few sharks. So frustrating when you plan your trip target and catch the fish you want but cannot take home a feed. Anyway that is fishing but the up side is as always being on the water on a pearler of a day with my son. cheers and tight lines The Skipper
  3. Thanks mate luck will probably play a big part
  4. To all fishos good luck this weekend going out for another crack at those elusive yellow tailed missiles on Sunday....... Just want one keeper over the 65 mark and I will be one happy salty. tight lines all.
  5. The conditions look good this weekend on trying the JD reefs off Cronulla . I will leaving from Foreshore hopefully around 6 on Saturday morning . is anyone else planning a trip down that way as I have fished those reefs before and some local knowledge on how it fishes would be greatly appreciated. cheers The Skipper
  6. S Thanks mate I will probably give it a go . its about 17 kms out ?
  7. Thanks mate might give it ago . It's about 17 kms isn't it ?
  8. Thanks for that. I am a big believer in burley , burley and more burley and have found that it attracts alot more bait fish to our boat which is what you want to happen as they inturn attract the bigger predators. I have fished the FAD about 20 kms off Port Hacking for a my PB Mahi Mahi 110cms on live slimies and few years ago now but have not been out since. They are porbably like any other type of fishing if you are there at the right time with the right bait you should do ok but that is fishing.
  9. Good morning all . I was wanting to find out if anyone has fished the FAD that is apparently 9-10 kms off Botany Bay recently as I would like to venture out and have a crack at it . Any info would be much appreciated . The Skipper.
  10. Hi Kingie Chaser, did you wet a line today ?
  11. Sorry KC, I should of added good luck on Monday at the moment the wind looks light in the morning. Let us know how you go chasing those yellow tail missiles . I am a no show this weekend home duties. Tight lines. The Skipper
  12. Hi Kingie Chaser, Mate the last time I was inspected was back in October last year when an RMS bloke at the ramp went though my boat giving me a pile of brochures on life jackets. What I do not understand is why can't fisheries guys inspect your boat for safety etc as well as Waterways and vice versa and the water police are only interested in your rego . If all three authorities checked all aspects of recreational boating / fishing then there would be triple the amount of inspectors available who have the legal authority to impose penalties. Does not seem to be a hard fix for mine . Cheers The Skipper
  13. Well done Joe . The bay seems to have a lot of fish at the moment which are good fun. Last weekend I was using yakkas for the kingies and they gobbled them up where as the week before they would not touch them. Seems a bit strange that two weeks ago the bay was full of slimies and for me they are a bit thin. The secret for me is burley , burley and more burley to attract the bait fish which in turn attract the predators. Anyway good job and tight lines. The Skipper
  14. I have been absent from Fishraider for a few years but am now back . I have been fishing Botany Bay fairly hard over the last three months on weekends and have a great time catching a regular amount of undersized Kingies which are slowly getting bigger. I have taught all my family the rights and wrongs of fishing as best I can and in particular about the leagal sizes for each species. Over the last few months Ihave noticed more and more so called fisherman not releasing undersized Kings and I am sick of it . When challenged they just lie through their back teeth. So for me enough is enough and I have started reporting the offenders to Fisheries but in saying that I also do not see any inspectors at either the boat ramps or on the water so all the money being spent to restock our fisheries will be wasted if they do not police it.
