  1. If outboard motors were ment to have them it would be standard. It's not the motor it's the hull and weight distribution, trim tabs will help fix the problem even small boats benefit as other people have said they can have adverse reactions. There is another device which is some sort of box type or foil on YouTube. Hope your problems are minimised and boating more enjoyable.
  2. Been looking at the same ovens as already have the cheaper version black box type which once sorted out work ok. The cigarette socket burns out causing major dramas whilst on the water. Connect directly to the battery problem solved. Also food sweats no ventilation the proper ovens have vents allowing pastry to cook properly check out u tube big dollar difference. With some extra work the same result can be obtained but nowhere near the same capacity. Both use heaps of power. Support Australia go the travel buddy. Cannot find any Sydney distributor to get one of the shelf only online.
  3. Have a look at thru hull transducer no adjustment required also work well at speed.
  4. That's gold time well spent. Fishing partner for life.
  5. Make sure you are able to do the yearly check, spare parts are available and made to Australian standards.
  6. Great report and photos, definitely a trip to remember well done.
  7. Great catch always pays to look around well written and informative
  8. Know were you are coming from the place is over fished even the locals admit the fact. The mother in law lives at Currumbin, have fished the creek and Palm beach reef hard when visiting during Christmas . Never seen so many boats in one area 50 plus, have to do the yards to get a fish. No fishing licence required only pay once for a boat license never seen a fisheries officer ?
  9. The Garmin gt51 will do 80/160 kHz chirp combines these frequencys into one meaning you cover the whole range will work deeper than the other brand good for 500 metres+ pending on the output of your Garmin sounder you purchase side vu and down vu work very well as long as you can interpretate the readings provided on the screen. Garmin is user friendly. Go for a mfd unit if you can afford to then add what you want. Live scope and UHD will blow your mind in the shallower water.

Lucky. Bugger Should be a tough rig for the upcoming season.
  11. Don’t forget you need a license to operate a VHF radio. This is a required safety device, it may save your life. Don’t skimp out too late when you need it. Channels 16-67 distress and calling there are several working channels required for communication and repeater channels best off having all A’s per acma requirements
  12. Unfortunate but lucky it happened whilst still on the trailer could have been interesting.
  13. The idle is still way too high. Is the motor fuel injected or carbureted. If carbureted there are many components internally that could cause the problem.
  14. Well done you have them sussed great fish.
  15. Looks like a great afternoon on the bay with some lovely fish.
  16. From the shallows no problem, deep water depends on your athleticism may need a ladder connected. Will be much better than nothing. And no welding required which would destroy your paintwork, make sure you put a large compensation plate behind the platform.
  17. Well done you only going to go forward from here. Have to be on the water to get them.
  18. Regardless of age the question is what is the problem. Obviously before 2014 they were carbureted after injected. Idle speed is way too high, this needs to be sorted first. Did the motor always run at this speed or is just recently. You need to pull codes from the computer and see what faults come up. Check for air leaks around inlet manifold. Spray some carby cleaner around the area engine will respond to this you’ll hear it rev up. Then it’s a process of elimination.
  19. Years ago when there were army disposal stores around you could buy a small green bottle of bug repellent the best ever. We camp very regularly on the sand islands at Lake Macquarie sand fly capital of Australia all mentioned products help but best is baby oil and dettol mix applied liberally the little buggers drown in the oil also water proof and better for the skin and stops you choking on the fumes. Make sure application is done before sunset.
  20. Great post and photos your results will only get better
  21. Start at the beginning check the kill switch at the control box, and all battery connections slight corrosion can be a demon. Also check all earth connections an the outboard.
  22. Nice work, squid trolling on a lure very unusual. Might be a new record considering not a squid jig ?
  23. For peace of mind just replace the complete impeller unit with a genuine item. Where the thermostats replaced these can also cause problems if faulty, cheap insurance.
