  1. I got a bit upset where i saw a question being asked by a young fella like myself and a response came back from an older Fella being if you gotta ask that you don't deserve to participate. Not everyone has the chance to learn from their parents or have a mentor to help them learn things. Or simply they haven't done it before. With all the information and communication streams available why not answer a simple question and set someone on the right path rather than shoot them down for asking. (this happened on facebook) Parents today are busy and I am trying to set up a lifestyle for myself which is more like what my grandfather lived. More off the land and self sufficient. This is easier to do now Because the technology allows us. I live off the Electricity Grid Produce my own meat and veggies have Dams stocked with fish for consumption. The times are what you make them and i have great interest in how we used to do things because when the battery goes flat well I'm fishing old school. My 2 cents - Used to be a dollar
  2. Fish everything Light then it's all fun and every things a fight
  3. Everyone putting flatty's so low i reckon they put up a good fight on the flats on light gear on a lure. Id call them at least a 6
  4. I take it there's still fish to be caught in middle ground of you can find a bonby or something
  5. Thankyou for the information, Having only ever been into jervis bay sailing on the young endeavour nearly 20 years ago i just couldn't remember what it was like. Im looking forward to getting out there now with some confidence.
  6. Hi, So im going up to Jervis for a trip in a few weekends time. The predicted Swell is to be about 1m and 8 sec from the East at point perpendicular. How will this compare to the swell in the bay ? I know wind direction will be a factor but i mainly want to get out there and chase some squid early in the morning and do some bottom bashing I'm in a 4.3 m ally boat and ill be coming out of Currambine creek. Any advice or tips on reading the weather in Jervis ay or generally would be much appreciated
  7. Hey, so i started out with a cheaper bass lumis setup cost me around $100 it casted superbly when you could get the brake right once i could cast that cheapy really well and with good distance i invester in something more expensive ive got a Daiwa Zata on a Good rod and it superb but i reckonbuy a cheap one and if you can work that out and get consistent with it then invest in something better. I still use my Bass Lumis for particular lures. it lives on my boat as one of my go to rods.
  8. HI, Going Camping at JB Cabins Jervis Bay. I was wondering how far up the Currambene Creek Have you fished is there good Fishing to be had up near where its closed to fishing and is it easy passage all the way down to Huskisson ? Anything i should keep an eye out for ill be taking my 4.3 Fishrunner down the creek. Any recomendations on soft plastics or lures that are must haves ? Thanks
  9. Awesome design, im stealing some ideas for when i build mine
  10. nothing worse than braid cuts. both work the first one is handy for keeping in my bag when im on the flats the other is for my boat
  11. just so you can see how it works with the mainline and the leader
  12. Lamb marking rings are the little rubber rings they use to castrate and take the tails from newborn lambs, should be able to get them at a rural shop or online. the third arm keeps tension on the leader. ill take some photos when I'm out the shed next. Fit snuggly on m6 bolts. i also changed the length of the bolts to 100mm from 70mm i made it for my cousin who has quite large hands. .
  13. That guide is really good, i got sick of standing on the sand trying to keep a reel out of the sand and trying to get and maintain tention on 6 pound line while tying a 10 pound leader. you just dont have to think about anything other than making your wraps when i use my little tool.
  14. Hey mate So using the rubber rings are quite soft so it allows your braid to slide through as the wraps are made. wing nuts allow you to release the pressure as you need to.
  15. I made my own jig for tying FG knots from stuff I had lying around in the shed.
  16. Hey all This is my 1977 fishrunner im the second owner I've been slowly restoring it through lockdown hangin out for when i can go fishing again. These photos are just doing some testing on my Dam still have all the electronics to wire up and the exterior paint.
