  1. Depending on how much power your monitor and computer use you should be OK. Inverter is big enough.
  2. If going solo make sure you are wearing a lifejacket and make sure the engine cutout cord is connected to you.
  3. Thanks. The basic combo's I've seen are 9ft 6wt. The blue sore has these at around $230 minus a staff discount so maybe the go. How do you choose fly's etc. Farm is just a weekender. Narrabeen Lake is still my local and would love to try in the shallows for some flatties and bream.
  4. Looking for some suggestions on a beginner fly rod combo. We will be stocking one of our dams with trout and also fishing some local rivers around the Southern Highlands. Cost isn't an issue but if not allowed here rule 6 stocks it even better as I can get staff discount through my son. Any thoughts appreciated.
  5. Not mine, but one hell of effort. Guy was fishing a live mullet for flathead. Fish was returned to live another day.
  6. Fishing gear, not sure why as it doesn't seem to work very often.

    That will be fine.
  8. Hey mate, just put up a post looking at organising a weekend to Twin Beaches Campground.
  9. Thinking about a weekend trip to Twin Beaches Campground on Berowa Creek. Plan would be head up Friday afternoon camp Friday and Saturday nights and fish during the day. Anyone camped here before ? Anyone interested in coming along (must have own boat) ?
  10. A very sharp filleting knife is your best friend and practice.
  11. Always fished 15kg off mono off the beach without any problems. Not interested in casting half way to New Zealand. Lots of whalers at times where I fish. I will check with my son exactly what discount he gets on the different brands.
  12. Broke my old trusty Pfluger Salt tonight so in the market for a new reel. Reel is going on a Diawa 12ft beach rod 12kg to 20kg. Running 15kg mono, needs at least 10kg of drag. Must be a Shimano reel as my son gets them for 50% off at <a large chain store> as a staff discount. Looking at the following reel, but open to suggestions. <link removed>
  13. This pops up every few years and never gets off the ground. Just a few greenies banging their chests, with no basis or merit for their desired outcome.

    pie warmer

I have a Big Bertha in the ute. Awesome little oven, pies, chicken wings, small roasts, etc. Has two elements which can be operated together or one at a time. Using both draws 20amps, each one draws 10amps. Pre heat for around 20mins, defrosted pies take around 40 mins, nice crispy pastry.
  15. Plenty of flatties in Narrabeen Lake you just need to think where would they be. Baitfish will hang in the weed beds as it provides cover for them. They will be in the shallows. I regularly get 50cm + flatties in less than 1m of water in the Lake, admittedly I am fishing from a boat most of the time. Fish the shallows that have a mix of open sandy areas in the weed beds. Just about anywhere land based should get into some fish, just give a miss to the busy areas or fish midweek. Keep moving and don't spend too long in one place. Give the soft plastics a go as well, the work very well in the lake on flatties. Hint, western part of the lake fishes the best. Try along Wakehurst Parkway.
  16. I was in the same position as you re fishing / family boat. Ended up with a side console. Removable cushions up front and it essentially becomes a bow rider, remove them and presto there's your casting deck. Other advantage is more room than a dedicated bow rider for the same length.
  17. Down here in Sydney I wait for a calm night with little or no surf. Smallest sinker possible. With little or no surf I find bait stay on the bottom and moves gently with what waves there are. I find the bigger lizards 70+ cm seem to come in a lot closer. Bait is half pillie single 5/0 hook.
  18. I use 15kg line off the beach and rocks. Mono will stretch with the waves breaking braid won't.
  19. Can't fault my Pfulger Salt reel that I have had for a number of years. Something like SALT PFS60 should do the trick nicely. Personally I wouldn't run braid in the situations you are going to use it.

  21. Went down the lake again last night. There were a few around. What I did notice was 1,000's of smaller prawns around, here's hoping for a late season.
