PS as to your coughing question , I`m guessing that the colder air is irritating your airways that are already inflamed from the virus. When you breath in , air is warmed by the upper respiratory tract and if this is compromised by a respiratory infection then this function is lost. The infection is probably also reducing protective mucus secretion from the cells lining the upper respiratory tract and leading to more irritation during inspiration.
