  2. Thanks to everyone for all the tips and helpful information, Unfortunately last week the weather was terrible and we were only able to fish a few hours in the morning for a few small squid then had to jet home due to the wind. Hopefully next time I go down the weather is better
  3. Thanks for the helpful information guys, I will check out the article as well. 😉
  4. Thanks a lot for that bit of information, will help heaps. Which good tackle shops is there to buy some bait from locally?
  5. If it gets to windy then we might head to St George Basin. Ive never fished there so not to sure on spots or baits.
  6. Hi All, Headed down to Jervis bay for a few days of fishing and just wondering what tips, rough spots for fishing Kingies and snapper and needs to know when going down there? ( I know calamri are limited to 10pp and its a massive marine park). I have marked the following spots just woindering if anyone has had any luck recently or knows the area well (Mid Grounds, Waypoint 20 & Flat rock)? I am launching the boat from murrays. Hoping to post a fishing report If i catch anything worthwhile if not will be soaking in the sun on the beach drinking beers. 🍺 Cheers

    Honda 50hp issue

Just an update. The mechanic never came which is not surprising. But the motor is running good now, I am thinking that it was bad fuel which caused it. I changed the spark plugs, onboard fuel filter and in-line fuel filter bit of fresh fuel and she is good as new. Thanks all for the input

    Honda 50hp issue

Yeah I have it booked in for a mechanic to look at it properly. Just thought maybe someone might of had a similar issue or experienced it. I was looking at possibly even upgrading to a 50hp Suzuki. Anyone know trusted dealers which sell them in the Sydney region?
  10. Hi All, Took the boat out today and while driving the motor just switched off. Upon reving it doesn't seem to reving freely. Feels like the motor has lost it power and it doesn't seem to be running well. Wondering if anyone might have an idea of what the issue might be? Here is the video Video.mp4 I was thinking the computer is on the way out or possibly a piston issue? Not a fuel issue as I tested it on external tank as well.
  11. Looks like the leather jackets are back in town. I will get ready for the bite offs. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
  12. Great catch, hopefully tomorrow I can find some nice legal reds
  13. Haha sensible as the boat Layover period is like June July from memory lol. Yeh open tinny wouldn't be fun at all.
  14. Yeah I am soft and don't go out as much in the winter 😃
  15. Thanks Guys, The rock cod are good for fish soup as well. Winters coming boys stock up on ya fish (few more trips before it comes obviously)
  16. Yeah looks like heaps until you start giving it out to all your family
  17. Hey All, So last Friday I went out again for the second time in a week, absolutely unheard of for me due to work and other commitments. Started on the water at the usual crack of dawn and started doing my favorite thing, jigging for calamari. Within the first 1 hr or so of drifting we grab enough for a feed. As soon the sun started the come up he calamari were off the bite and it was time for a good old bottom bash. Went to spot X and we fished the reef for a good 2 hours or so for a nice mixed bag of fish. x1 nice legal pan size snapper at 31cm a thumber flathead, mowie and few of the usual suspects. Towards mid morning the wind started to pick up a bit so we decide we had enough fish for the family, cousins, etc and we decided to head in for a nice lunch at Bundeena as I had enough feeding the fish and I needed to feed myself. it was straight home from there. Great day to be out on the water, sure beats a good day in the office.
  18. Yeah as @leonardgid mentioned they're Southern Maori wrasse. Some additional information https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/375948/Southern-Maori-Wrasse.pdf Few different ways to cook them. One way is you can make a fish soup out of them. or you can fillet them and lightly fry them.
  19. if I get a few of them, I use one for bait and take the rest home to eat
  20. I think it looks like a baby jew fish or an aussie salmon 😕 maybe its a hybrid
  21. Awesome feed, were you in deep water to catch those calamari?
  22. I am heading out again on Friday as well, but this time to the Hacking, Hoping for some squid and some poor mans snapper
  23. Thanks @Rebel reading through heaps of post and tips I love a good photo of the water and scenery.
  24. Hi Everyone, New to the site, first time poster, long time fisherman. (used to be on SFF back in the day) Here is a little report from my day fishing out in botany. Started about 6am on the water, lines went down and started to drift for some calamari as that what I love to catch/eat. Within few mins i drop a calamari thinking to myself that this going to be a promising day for a hull of clamari. Unfortuantely I ended up with 2 with we work very hard to catch. I ended up putting one down live expecting some kingy action, but no kingy action but we did get a nice size tailor to the live bait (disappointed wasn't a king but still a decent size tailor). After around 10am we decided to head out to the heads due to weather being absolutely amazing with no wind, about 2km south from botany heads over a little reef which we anchored up and started to berley. We started to catch a small mixed bag of fish including (wrasse, trevally, slimeys, flatheads, yellowtails and sargent baker) which brightened up the day and brought a bit of action. (Pic of the fish, nothing to brag about) Attached is pic of the water and what the weather was like in the afternoon, glassy conditions. Tight lines talk soon
