Thanks kingie
I am working tomorrow and Friday so will get the ss minnow out Saturday morning put the muffs on the motor and give it a run
on another note I have to premix my fuel ,is it worth running 98 octane or just stick with 95 ?
-
Thanks noelm
the motor is a 35 h/p Johnson seahorse, built around early 1980,s
The mechanic has been in the game for a long time and I am pretty sure he would use genuine stuff or I hope 🤞

Hi all
I haven’t been on for a while but have a question if I can ask
I changed the impeller in June last year and have used the boat twice since then for an hour in total running
I flush the motor with muffs running them for 5 minutes when I get home
although I have only used the motor for an hour it’s been over a year since the impeller he’s been changed and the boat ,motor and trailer have been sitting in the shed
The weather is getting warmer and I want to take it out
should I change the impeller before I go out ?
mechanic is $280(included in service is impeller change)
thanks
Greg

Thanks noelm
there is a boat shop on way home

Hi campr
I start work at 2 am so going to take the seat to work and call in to the hardware store on way home
-
Thanks noelm
I had a few 1/4 inch bolts at home and thought that would do
but too small for the hole and a shop didn’t have any screws or bolts in that section to use

Ok zoran definitely no citrus 😂
the mechanic said when I picked up the boat engine
Its around a 1982 or 1983 build and there was a small plastic tube that attaches both ends of the gear selector ,it was missing he rigged up a quick repair but the actual part has to be order from Johnson in the US Can’t get one
when he gets a price with postage he will let me know I will give him my visa number and it will get sent
i told him if he does no good ,give Arizona outboards on the central coast a call and see what they have

What about oranges I heard that fish won’t touch your bait if you have peeled an orange ?also
Good news
gear selector shaft came apart halfway down
$50 to fix and I pick it up this afternoon
and I still shiver at the mention of bananas on boats 😂

Ok
boat in the water cruising around lake Mac
find a spot to fish
wife happy 😃
she wanted to fish another place
pull in anchor start motor engaged forward
nothing no movement motor revs but that’s it
rang up mechanic propeller bushing gone
rang marine rescue organised a tow
they will be 30 minutes wife happy still 👌
she says let’s continue fishing while we wait and have lunch 🥳
then she pulls out lunch she had packed, and what comes out
bananas 🤯
I turned cold with terror no wonder we broke down she had bananas on the boat
i have heard this curse since I was young
never bring bananas in a boat
I told her what bad luck it is and she didn’t believe me
does anyone else know about the banana curse
Thanksgreg
ps
motor went well 👍apart from propeller stuffing up

Thanks guys so 50:1 is ok in a whippet snipper that only uses 25:1 normally ?
i guess it will only make it more smoky ?

The hernia was repaired Tuesday afternoon,as it was open surgery had a night in hospital and discharged about lunchtime yesterday
Right side of groin very tight, no pain it just feels like I have done 1000 stomach crunches 😁
I will start walking in a few days and take it as I go
on another note
nurses deserve to get a pay rise 👍
