  1. Great stuff Bob. Seeing your photo reminds me I’ve got a random bucket hat in the back of the car that I think might be yours…..
  2. My son broke his arm so the offshore fun wasn’t on the menu. We decided to go chase @Picklesbass instead. We were on the water at 5:45 but still didn’t beat the ski boats. Got a small bag full. All taking the Halco RMG Poltergeist, as close as I’ve got to the magic purple Feral.
  3. Great stuff Bob. Your success is compelling me to make the trip out that way.
  4. Love the bent minnow, just be careful when the Tailor get a taste for it, not a cheap lure - then it becomes a race to retrieve…..
  5. I’ve decided I’m not much of a Pittwater guy. I just haven’t had much luck there compared to the upper reaches I decided to go and have a look for Kings, so I got myself a few yakkas and hit the wreck for an hour or two off the top of the run out. No luck. So I headed over to look for what I think is the Carpark which wasn’t productive either. On my way home as I was right near the ramp, I decided to flick for Flatties on the plastics. I ended up with 5 all barely legal. While I was doing that I decided to throw a yakka, that was already rigged up on kingy gear over the trail side of my drift. Lo and behold, a PB 77cm croc decided the yakka was the goods. 80lbs leader might have been overkill, but she didn’t seem to care. Released of course.

    Berowra

5 in a pack, they are awesome value compared to the brand names and I think they perform better, the go to normally being the Keitech Swing Impact, but they cost a bomb

    BIG RED!!

    Fantastic. Great effort

    Berowra

They call it the Noeby Tactical Minnow, in 10cm or 11.5 is best. It tends to minimise the smaller Flatties, but is a lollipop for the big ones - I use it for the Jews mostly though.

    Berowra

So I hit Berowra today hoping for better weather than yesterday, and a few Flatties and Jew. The weather was great (per the forecast) for the first hour or so then turned sour with a gusty wind taking the shine off. I managed to get a few good Flatties early (4x bn 42 - 58cm), so after that it was catch and release. In saying that, if I got a legal Jew I would have kept it - but no such luck. The big one was on a hardbody on the flats, then 2 on my magic Aliexpress paddle tail (the Jew setup), the last coming on the trusty 2.5” grub Hopefully tomorrow is better weather again, and I get something royal.
  10. So, WillyWeather told me it was forecast mild wind, that proved incorrect. I managed to find a few sheltered areas in the harbour to hide out on an otherwise quiet day. The day included a few small snapper, a numb ray and then I got this 55cm Sambo on my bream outfit - the reel was screaming and I had to nurse it home. Going to hit Berowra tomorrow chasing Jews and Flatties.
  11. So I’m in a season of navigating what the next stage of life looks like, what better way than on the water with my rod and my God. I haven’t really fished Botany before, other than a nosy around last week having fun with Tailor. The weather was howling with a westerly making much of the bay unpleasant in my 4m tinny. I picked up a few yakkas and a couple of squid then sought protection of Molineaux and basically parked up for a few hours with podcasts. Textbook, turn of the tide, unweighted yakka out the back got smashed by this guy. It would not be appropriate to fail to mention @Picklesfor his tutoring. 88cm has set my new PB.

    Bobbin

Straight out from Apple Tree Boat Ramp, on the point directly opposite the ramp, an hour or so into the incoming tide. 1/6 head with 2.5” grub.

    Bobbin

Had an explore of Bobbin Head. It wasn’t too active, with a stack of tailor about. Headed back to the ramp, landed this 45er.
  14. Headed out twice already this week, but went again today because the kids were keen and disappointed I went without them while they were stuck at school, so decided on hitting up a spot where I knew the soapies were abundant in Berowra. Great little session, 3 on bait, 3 on the vibes. Still preferred the bream personally but the kids don’t have the patience. Great to see so much bait in the system and the temperature rising. Should be epic once the fresh backs off and the big boys are back in number.
