  1. If your buddy knows fishing ask him a few questions if not look on youtube there are heap of good and informative videos but also try and ask other fishraiders like and check the search tab. Beach fishing can be quite successful in the summer for bream and whiting. Around the nelson bay breakwall solid catches of ludrick and bream are caught. Try local fishing reports on spots and gear to use. the stuff you have seem fine for small bream and heaver rod will handle some snapper and other bigger fish. Good luck
  2. Well done isaac, you seem to be getting a few lately well done.πŸ‘
  3. Sorry to hear that swordie family. My thoughts are with you.
  4. Couple of nice fish there Yowie, well done!πŸ‘
  5. G'day guys, this is just a short report on my last two fishing trips around the lake. Sorry forgot to take photos on first trip and second would of been too dark to see anything😬 The first one was at the bolton point jetty. I was fishing on dusk with just your servo prawns. (hopefully in summer will try and catch my own) I was casting out then doing a slow wind back in. Ended up getting a small 20cm tailor and a 43cm pike. the pike was hooked bading under the eye and i couldn't get the hook out so had to end up cutting the line. total time spent fishing 1 hour. The second trip was on our tinny. We headed off at 6pm after dinner and motored round to marmong point. we set up two 1-3kg and 5-8kg set ups for anything. Target was flatties and bream. We felt lots of bites but only were tiny ones from little tiddlers. nothing was biting on the prawns so moved to using pillies. finally after catching nothing we dropped back broughton point/bolton point for there were lot more solid bites here and fishing jumping around. caught another small tailor, 18cm on a pillie tail. Apparently there has been lots of small tailor around the lake nothing over 40cm. We had a lot of fish follow our rigs to the boat but then swim back down. After the tailor we headed home. One small fish but beautiful night. The moon has orange from what we think was all the back burning for the upcoming bushfire season and there was a slight breeze that was perfect. Thanks for reading!πŸ‘

Welcome back mate, hopefully we can get some more reports form the lake over this summer!πŸ‘
  7. haha, nice one Berlyguts!πŸ‘ From the sounds of it you don't win much stuff! Hopefully you might win a stella......hopefully!πŸ˜…
  8. Hey mate i would say to support a local tackle store or whatever fishing store is near you. When all the covid dies down head down and ask around for your entry level stuff. I'm guessing you will be going for fish like flathead, bream, whiting and other bread and butter, so there should be enough choices for you. My first combo was a shimano sienna and i can say its a good combo. It can all depend on what sort of budget your on. Just make sure that you buy something that is worthwhile.πŸ‘
  9. I've recently received one of my fishing mags for this summer and the title page was about chasing xl crocs! They seem like the would be fun to catch. Hope you connect with someπŸ‘
  10. Probably to help stuff float when it goes overboard
  11. WOW!! Nice fish there mate, well doneπŸ‘
  12. Welcome to fishraider!! I don't fish around where you are but it seems from what you have said that the fishing isn't half bad. I would say reduced commercial fishing has a massive impact on the waters. Also light line and gear would help. Try introducing yourself on this so more raiders get to know you! Tight linesπŸ‘
  13. Sounds like a great challenge pickles! I think we all and especially me see rods as one of the main way of catching fish but handlining is better when it comes to feeling bites. I think i might have to adapt that challenge as well over the summer!πŸ‘
  14. Welcome to fishraider! For fishing optunties at the south coast i can recommend Burrill Lake. Ive never fished there but have visited friends there over holidays. Oh the pain when i realised i forgot my rods.😠 Having seen the lake it is a beautifully pristine estuary system that looks like a fishing heaven. πŸ‘ land based fishing is easy there with sandbanks making it easy to wade to the drop off into deeper water. You could also fish on the north side near the bridge to go for bream and the other species around the bridge pylons. Use light 4lb to 8lb line with little or no sinker to fish around the flats and bridge. Pumping nippers is a must and have them on a small baitholder hook. Beach fishing in the summer also can produce results with solid catches of whiting and bream. I've heard you can catch Bream, whiting, flathead, tailor, ludrick and mulloway in deep water at times and bass and EP up further along the river. Hope this helped you, looking forward for more reports!πŸ‘ http://www.fishingmonthly.com.au/Articles/Display/17414-Beginners-Guide-Ulladulla-to-Burrill-Lake Also since your new feel free to welcome yourself on this!πŸ‘ For a week over when all this covid ends you can also stay at the Big4
  15. Nice report mateπŸ‘ Looks like a couple of nice fish
  16. Sounds like fish also like a chicken parmigiana!!!! πŸ˜… But for bait go to a local servo or shop and just get some prawns or pilchards! Thats all you needπŸ‘ P.S Welcome to fishraider!!!!πŸ‘
  17. Hey raiders, I'm think of purchasing a Shimano raider 772 bream spin for fishing sp at the lake this summer. I have heard good things about this rod and want to get a last idea about what fellow raiders think of it? Can find it for $80 so want to get it before the clearance ends. Also thinking of spooling it with 6lb shimano kairiki braid. Thanks for any advice!!!
  18. Can't get much better than watching the footy and enjoying some fresh fish! πŸ˜… Ive got a propt on the northen side of the lake and i agree the tides arent as big for some reason dont know if its moon related or just something random?? Anyway, great report mate!πŸ‘
  19. In the central coast we were going for bonito, kingies and tailor. we only ended up catching two 40cm tailor to keep, but he my mate said he caught a 80cm kingie the week before. I think the kingie was on a livie tho...
  20. Not in sydney but love watching shroom! Thanks Mrsswordfisherman!πŸ‘
  21. One of the most important things while going rock fishing is always go with a friend. Pickles had some good advice about looking at the rocks for 10-15 minutes before fishing. It may be boring and you might forget about it but it can be important. for instance the other week while fishing for blackfish i noticed that a set of big waves come over the rocks every 10 minutes so over that time i would walk away from the ocean and wait it out. As for rigs, i've only been rock fishing 3 times and my first time was at the central coast. One of my dads mates told me just to put on a unweighted pille on a baitholder hook with a half hitch would do it. If i was you i would look around on youtube for safety and fishing information. I think you would fish around sydney so i would suggest team kingies as something to watch. Also try navionics for deep water near the rocks. Hope this helped you. πŸ‘
  22. nice haul there scratchie! Found this for you also. Keep the fish comingπŸ‘
