There have been a few flathead about from the breakwall to the east of the boat ramp.

Hi Davo, I was in a similar position to you four years ago.  My recommendations are to pick a quiet ramp first up so that you can take your time.  For the first couple of times, take a check list with you from start to finish to make you feel in control.  For instance, mine was pre departure from home i.e. fuel, bait, rods, food, drink etc.  the at ramp. check bungs, undo transom ties, turn on fish finder, pump fuel bulb, remove motor support, have rope ready at front if self launching.  then down ramps, undo safety chain, undo, winch rope, hold rope etc.  And then the opposite for loading boat.  I found (much to my adult boys laughter that it worked for me). Take your time.  I don't know the area so i will let others advise of where might be best, also if you tell folk the size of your boat might assist.  Be warned, It is addictive!! and welcome

Sorry mate, I can't recall model etc, but Arrowz looked at them and stated that there was a fault.  Both snapped about third run from the top. There were similar complaints on line at the time.  Bad batch maybe, as when I purchased them I was told they were batting above their league compared to cost.

I have had two atomic arrows, both snapped in exactly the same spot.  I can recommend the Veritas.

I have the shimano speedster with that rod.  Seems pretty good.

Hio mate, I can recommend the Abu Garcia Veritas 3.  dings has them starting at 469 at the moment.  they are reduced because the next version is out.  Used to be about 149.

Hey pal, I have a 5 mtr fibreglass half cabin and fish the same places.  Maybe we could help each others launch retrieve if you fish inshore reefs sometime
