  1. Very nice Jew bob, well done.
  2. Well done Yowie, a good feed there. Seems like the lack of surface action wasn’t a once of, wierd there wasn’t much around early this morning. Good job with the jewie
  3. Thanks Chris, last few trips I have caught at least one crab, thinking about dedicating a day to it.
  4. Thanks Yowie, The fish weren't eating the whole pillies, rather taking the smaller cubes fed out on the lighter lines which probably was why we lost a few.
  5. Thankyou Thanks mate, yes I did. FIrst one out there for me. Saw a few on the flats whilst cleaning the fish as well. Thankyou. Thanks Mike, not quite on that level, give it 40 years or so then maybe.
  6. Headed out early form Yowie bay to the deep at lilli pilli. First time fishing deep for a while. Collected a few yakkas before heading out then anchored in the dark, slow going until a bit of light then the reddies turned up. Biggest one in the photo was 35 and the other 32, 2 others were just 30 but released. 2 baits in a row got smoked by what was likely decent tailor, big run and hook up then nothing, bit-off. Dad kept pulling up the small reddies keeping them away from me, another just legal reddie took a yakka and so did a bream which was released. The crab took ahold of a live yakka and was welcomed with open claws, probably one of the biggest I have caught. Not a bad day all in all, out early back early. Pilchards along with Yakkas for bait, and a lack of surface action which was unusual given the last few times I have been out.
  7. Can't complain with crabs, well done.
  8. Still a nice feed there, much better fairing than yesterday, was very quiet inside.
  9. Outstanding work Chris, well done. One to remember for a long time.
  10. Very nice Larkin, good to see some kings around, hopefully they come up river.
  11. Well done Yowie, thats a very solid bag of crabs plus a solid whiting. Went to grays point a few days ago on the New Moon when the low tide was 0.0m. Was able to walk basically across the channel and saw dozens of crabs amongst the weeds. Good signs.
  12. Shame about the end result, but a few jewies are fun. Never know what might eat a livie this time of year.
  13. Well done Yowie, a nice feed. I might stop wading around waist deep water after the past few days, seems to be some big critters around
  14. Great feed, well done. Quite the wake up call with the shark after I spent the whole afternoon wading grays point. Someone hooked up to what was likely a shark down there as well today
  15. Thankyou, they have been very good recently , thought summer prawns when I bought it Yes they are Thanks Yowie, honestly don’t know the difference so could’ve been a snook Thankyou Thanks mate Thanks Larkin, did have the toadies at our feet but the whiting were sitting 25-30m away from us Thankyou, definitely get out sometime, lots to catch
  16. Another day another chance to fish, early starts are starting to wear on me as once again headed out before light and went up South West arm for something different. Tried for some poddies and no luck so switched plans to topwater fishing. Used a MMD splashprawn around the flats at SWA for a few follows from bream and one good hit from what appeared to be a whiting but no fish so moved to lilli pilli. Casting over the weed with a twitch, pause motion and tempted a few really nice bream. Very happy with the class of fish on topwater, the bream in photo was 38 and also mananged a 36 and a 32. The trevally also took a liking to the topwater as well as a few pike and smaller bream. Picked up a mate and moved to maianbar with some nippers, fished only 2 spots for the whiting, two of which were caught whilst pumping nippers and the other a little after. Once the tide had drained of the flats focused on the channel for a few small whiting, bream and a just legal flounder which was released. Good day to try something new and happy it paid of.
  17. Thankyou, lost a few at local squid spot night before but definitely a few about. Hopefully the kings turn up soon
  18. Thankyou, the whiting seem to be on. Only needed 2 flats today luckily maianbar was very productive
  19. After a few whiting on Wednesday headed out this morning with a mate to try for a few more. First was to try for kings, got 2 early for livies and headed to the spot downriver. Unfortnely both got picked off by big octopus so not happy with that. Trolled a few dead squid for no luck around the channels then made the call to pump nippers. Fished maianbar for a while and the whiting were thick, 7 good ones with one being the second biggest I’ve got. Lots around at the moment. Big eagle ray ended the spell there so moved to lilli pilli and pulled out one of the bigger ones. Landed a few small bream and mate lost a very big trevally. All in all a very good day, plenty of fillets to go around
  20. Far out, hooked one today and left me with little to no line left Spot on, perfectly legal to keep in nsw without the eggs
  21. Thanks Yowie, took us a while to get them but worth it. Saw a few big eagle rays as well. Thanks mate Cheers for tip, really hoping I can get onto some kings Thanks Neil
  22. After a few weeks not fishing the hacking was nice to be back. Headed out solo in the dark to the deep at lilli pilli. Baits were pillies, squid and live yakkas and yakka fillets. Lots of school Jewies around with a few double ups . Ended up with 9 schoolies the most I’ve got in a trip before. Only small snapper around and no other action although plenty of pilchards and yakkas around, a cormorant came over briefly and made getting baits in very hard. Managed the Mack tuna on a metal. Sun up and picked up @kobi caught a fish and trolled some Livies around for no luck. Anchored at a spot for kings for a while for no luck, lots of bonito and Mack tuna swimming around but none hooking up, just a few follows and half hits. After a while called it quits on the kings and headed to maianbar got some nippers and kobi managed the crab, smaller whiting and bream. I got the flathead on a top water. Was pretty quiet so moved to lilli pilli and picked up the big whiting (39) and also landed a bream around 33 which was released. All in all an alright day but pretty slow
  23. Thanks Pete, i have kept the heads but unfortanely have headed off back to Sydney, hopefully the squid heads can be turned into some Jews/snapper/ kings up here Thanks Yowie, saved a few for bait and shells for burley
  24. After one successful prawning mission I had to get out and amongst it again. Friday: New moon and prime time for prawns, same spot as the previous night and from 9-1030 landed around 45-50 solid prawns again. A few saved for bait this time and the rest turned into a chilli garlic bbq. Saturday: Early start and out to the local rocks for a squid. Funnily enough for the 14 years I’ve come to this place I have never caught a squid down here despite being with people catching them and quite literally casting the same jig on the same spot and not catching while my mate was catching. Started out with a natural green colour casting over the weedbeds and after about 1 hour I had managed three small squid but happy with the result. Headed over to the beach to catch the last of the tide and managed a nice bream on a prawn from the previous night Sunday night: Had heard rumours of lots of prawns being caught around the boat ramps at Sussex so headed out to check the action. Needless to say, the prawns were on! A true prawn run, hundreds and hundreds of school prawns going with the tide to the ocean, just a matter of scooping them up. Within an hour the peop next to us had bagged out we ended up with 7 litres between us. Neighbours requested some so they will be happy
  25. Made the young fellas day, well done, maybe a few more eating fish next time
