  1. Thanks Derek, do you know if they managed to find a way down to the ledge or is it only accessible with the old chains/ropes?
  2. Yeah I went down to old man’s hat on Sunday, it’s about a 10 minute walk to the rocks from the restaurant there. Didn’t have my rods with me though
  3. Hi everyone I’ve been wanting to fish bluefish pt north head for a while now, I’m well experienced rock fishing and planning to give it a go when the conditions are right, I’m wondering if anyone can share how to get down and access the ledge? Cheers
  4. Broke the second guide from the bottom on my rod, can anyone recommend any shops in sydney that replace them? thanks
  5. I’ve had a similar experience at balmoral a couple weeks ago, I was fishing with a live yakka under a float as we saw a couple kings swim under the wharf and they swam straight past and didn’t even notice my yakka. I changed to a fresh unweighted whole squid and as soon as my bait hit the water the king ate it
  6. Hi everyone I’m going to port stephens in a couple of weeks and planning to bring my fishing gear and target some squid. Does anyone know the rules on taking squid jigs/fishing gear onto flights as they’re sharp?
  7. Hey everyone I’m planning to head up to Port Stephens soon with a couple of mates from school and we’re thinking of spending a day or 2 rock fishing depending on conditions and another day on a charter. Can anyone recommend any good charters for offshore fishing for snapper, tuna, kings? I don’t think your able to post any businesses publicly on here but could anyone private message me any if that’s allowed? Thanks
  8. I saw one other person on the ledge land a nice one but my mate and I were only getting them at around 30-40cm
  9. Hey guys decided to head up to the central coast this weekend 19-20 Feb to target some bonito off the rocks with my mate from school @little fisho Saturday was forecasted to be a pretty rough day with 2 metre southerly swells but checked the surf cam at the beach and it looked much calmer so decided to head out and we arrived at 2pm, the conditions were great for spinning. First few casts I hooked up to a nice 60cm bonito on a metal. For a couple hours we would hookup every cast, bonito and Mack tuna were going crazy. My mate and I got at least 30 together (90% released) and then the action went quiet at about slack low tide so we headed home. Sunday however was the complete opposite, we arrived at the same time at 2 in the arvo and we were non stop casting until about 6pm trying every lure in our tackle boxes with not a single follow or hookup and not many others on the ledge had success either. Had these 2 for dinner Saturday night which were 60 and 54cm
  10. @little fisho Released it, could’ve used it for bait but don’t really need that much
  11. Hey guys first report here, recently I’ve had a crack in the bottom of my boat where water has been getting into the subfloor and there’s been a lot getting in so the last few days my dad and I tried to fix it up and took the boat out today to see if it’s repaired and have a bit of a fish for a few hours. We launched at tunks park at around midday 25/1/22 and headed straight over to target some squid around reef beach, first cast I got a squid which was a little arrow and a king that looked about 80 followed it up but left. Then was quiet for about half an hour so we moved on to crater cove to try and find some more. I got a decent calamari to put in the livebait tank, the cast after that I thought I was snagged but it was coming up and very heavy so I thought it was a bunch of kelp but turned out to be a huge cuttle fish which was pretty cool to see as I’ve only ever gotten tiny ones. We then head off back over towards manly at about 2 to slow troll some squid around the rocks at about 2 knots, I had a squid head on and I cast it out the back and as soon as I put my rod in the rod holder I get a little bite then my rod bent over, I picked it up and the fish was having a big run and some huge headshakes so I wasn’t sure what it could’ve been but then it slowed down and became pretty much deadweight and once I got it up boatside my dad netted it and it turned out to be a solid snapper that measured 51-52cm which I wasn’t expecting inside the harbour. I put back on a live squid and got a rat king then shortly after I got another king that was 74cm. Got back to the boat ramp at about 4 and found there was no water in the subfloor so it was a great day and brought home a good feed.
