  1. Yeah Saku are good and I have a few of their lures. Just chasing ones that I can be a bit more risqué with and not stress about the $$$$
  2. I live on the Clarence and never scored a 50cm model. Very jealous.
  3. Has anyone used profishent lures?
  4. Yeah I forgot about Strikepro, have to follow that up. Unfortunately you are bang on regarding cheap hardbodies….sigh
  5. Really enjoyed reading your story. I am intrigued where the first lake is? It resonated with me as I have a number of spots locally which I fish for bass at night when I don’t have much time.
  6. Hi everyone Can anyone recommend cheap(er) minnow lures (sinking, floating or suspending) that swim well?
  7. Cracking day today, temperature up around 28 degrees. The housework was done early and it freed up a couple of hours in the afternoon. I have never caught a drummer and today was my first try at targeting them. Swell was small at 1m from the south. Used a simple rig of running ball sinker down to the hook on a 12ft rod (3-8kg) with 20lb braid and fluorocarbon leader. By the time I got to Yamba it was 3:00pm so I decided for convenience to use bread as bait as well as burley. No drummer but did land this nice bream
  8. Indeed, especially in winter.
  9. Afternoon Went for a quick flick this morning at Lake Arragan. About 2 weeks ago it temporally busted out to the ocean for a short period. Lake was still really full with plenty of small flathead lays dotted around the edge. Given the recent breach I thought it may have been a little more productive. I dropped a whiting and missed a few other bites. Anyhow this little guy inhaled 2.5inch grub:
  10. Hi Jeff, sorry for the late reply. Is the spin rod graphite with a fast action? If so consider using a slow action or medium action fibre glass rod. I use a fibreglass rod for Luderick as they have soft mouths. Regards Sub
  11. Hi Raiders/deck hands Recently I have been having trouble tying double uni knots to a reel that has 6lb line. When I use mono, the braid always breaks at the knot. It’s J Braid and probably 12months old. Has anyone come across this problem?
  12. Hi everyone Got a quick session in yesterday afternoon at Wooli wall. Was looking for some fun with Tailor or Salmon but none were about. It was high tide an hour before sunset, small swell (less than 1.5m) with a sizeable gap between the sets. Anyhow a mate and I managed to locate a school of Silver Trevally and some reasonable sized fish were caught. The rest of the wall appeared to be slow on the fishing front. Sole black fisher lacked out and the only other fish caught while I was there was a decent Bream on bait.
  13. Correction northern beaches not the Gong
  14. Some sage advice. I can’t offer any tips for the Gong however maybe target rocks on the beach or at the end of the beach. Newcastle Beach has an excellent rock outcrop mid beach which provides a good weed. Safe east access location. I would look for something similar.
  15. Hi Sam, what part of the world do you live in? regards Grant
  16. Interesting how much topwater action there was that late into the morning
  17. Nice work. Something very appealing about night fishing especially as the weather warms up. Did you just hang around the jetty/moorings?
  18. Second that…how did you go?
  19. Hi Raiders Looking at buying some cheap hardbody lures to throw as sacrificial lambs into some gnarly areas off the rocks. I have been looking at the Outback Lures Jabiru Jerk Bait and the Tsunami Pro Pulse shallow diving minnows. Normally I would avoid these lures, it looking for cheap lures that can swim.
  20. Found this article from 2013 talking about bass. Section on the Hunter River and mentions Bass as far up as Denman and further up the catchment. The Goulburn River joins the Hunter south of Denman so good chance they will be up that system as well.
  21. I grew up in the Hunter Valley and have often wondered about the Goulburn River. It seems like it’s in no man’s land between coastal hinterland bass fishing and the fresh water fishing west of the divide. Love to know if you find out anything interesting in the future
  22. Great report, and all done from the river bank over a few hundred metres? I fished Yamba the other day, walked 4km for a doughnut.
  23. Time to get excited ladies and gentlemen Bass season starts tomorrow. What lures are you looking forward to trying this season? Is there new water your looking forward to exploring? Hopefully I will have a new rod shortly. I will be looking at new skinny water in the Orara Valley and Clarence Valley.
