  1. @ loon1.... few nice bream and heard about some jew.... we hit the flats for these guys.... . beside that we were in the boat most of the week chasing bream and flatties... good luck aust day... @little marlin --- im still trying lol @ddaniel... this guy was a real handful on 3 pound @quinnie.... where you thought is where they are
  2. hey guys smacked a cpl of nice whiting on recent trip to harrington on last day of trip.... pumped nippers and fished the run up on the flats.... caught a few more but kept these two the right one went 35 cm and the left went 44cm 660 grams ... nice little battle on the light gear in ankle deep water. one 35cm bream the day before on tailor fillet and a bunch of flatties on plastic as usual in the manning all 30 to 40 smoked on the wall again while fishing for jew with whole tailor... Gotta love harrington
  3. geoff wilsons improved albright is the best knot ive found to date....... the low stretch in braid can be a problem if you strike too hard (or at all) because no stretch can = pulled hooks... i use sharp jigheads and dont strike on flatties but thats personal... Try flurocarbon.... it will surprise you ( though mono does the job fine)... i have a spare spool with 4 lb fluro and when its tough that helps(not to mention bream and perch on the cards) good luck ian
  4. its been fishin ok up here of recent.... well done on the whiting....i'm just starting to work them out... they go hard
  5. good to see some young fella's getting the plastics bug, another converted to the fine art of flicking and yet another person to cull the flathead population of the entrance.. fortunatly ive given the flatties a miss early this season and have been cleaning up on the perch... but thats another story all together! remember, in heavily fished areas like the entrance PLEASE catch and release
  6. we got a drummer from the rocks on a squid strip a few weeks back, very suprising indeed.. so yes, it well could have been a pig and as we all know even a small drummer can put u under a rock in no time.. keep tryin mate!
  7. if youre really after bream go lighter ...On one spool i have 4lb fluoro straight to the lure seems to work for me the other has 6 pd braid 4/6 pd fluoro leader .... nice fish mate
  8. hey guys..... lost one ep round 35 cm yesterday ...caught another around 32 cm no photos (we never have the camera when we get perch) i read a recent report about the entrance being quiet... it is...... but that's the best time 4 perch....perch love having no competition.... land based, soft plastics...... no brand no location sorry guys they are too hard to get...(you wouldn't believe me anyway lol) we also got 2 flatties on poddys but it was tuff... either way the swell today is smashing the mouth so it might open up a bit...YAY we need it we have been walking across the channel for jew sessions.. cheers guys Ian
  9. hey raiders flat head fanatic here long time no post first jew 4 me nth entrance beach pics to follow nuthin spesh 50-55 cm .... still yeahhhhhhhh finally ian
  10. i'll be up for a beachy work permitting.... i'm not much of a beach fisho either but a few tailor/slamon might be on the cards... keep me posted re dates... ian
  11. mackerel by far..... pearlies are great and i tried a venus tusk fish and that was awesome...... flattys are nice but not in the same league
  12. byron is right the upper reaches are full of poddys... around picnic point boatshed ive always scored a few...actually most boat ramps are excellent spots for poddys imho....as long as they arent busy.... i sometimes throw the trap in as soon as we get to the ramp if its quiet before we launch gl ian
  13. cool its funny what u get when drummer fishn
  14. just use a float you cover more ground...as long as you know how deep it is you can put your livie 30 cm (fo poddys) off the bottom.... i pin mine thru the shoulder with wide gape hooks.. ian
  15. "* A new closed season for Australian bass and estuary perch in rivers and estuaries from June 1 to August 31 each year to protect breeding fish." does that apply to pros "accidentally" netting the spawning bass ? (or eps for that matter) don't tell me those guys don't know whats up sorry a bit off topic... 30 cm seems like a reasonable limit to me for trevs, but i take your point... the one case i can see size limits working is qlds flathead slot limit...which i think is 40- 70cm... there have been significant increases of flatties both small and large.... some days when i fish for drummer i wish they would change the limit to 29 cm instead of 30, cause the fish are all just under, but hey, at least we are catching fish that are fair sport at that size on the light gear.... there are peopl on here who would be more than happy catchin 29 cm trevally in the dozens and releasing them, maybe keeping a couple that were size.... trevally don't keep well...best for immediate consumption imho... a 20 fish bag limit even seems excessive to me for most species.... cheers ian
