  1. Around the 50cm mark it was missing an eye and it did a couple of flps and jumps on the rocks before they got it in the net.
  2. Hi All, Enjoying the winter sun down at the Lane Cove river for lunch and watching this guy fish with his kids , when he hooks a fish and grabs the net. I walked over to see what it was and the below is what he caught!!!!!! I thought to myself it couldnt be , but I think it is!!!. Can anyone tell me I had too much sun , or am I in Queensland and not Sydney. Cheers Matt
  3. Phews lagoon is also known as the duck ponds down the back of Richmond shops , if you follow the main road down thru the shops and thru the round about you will pass the two duck ponds , you cant miss it. If that dosent help they are near the Polo Fields. Cheers Matt
  4. No need to hide your hook as they suck the bait in and out of there rubber lips. The more of the hook that is shown will result in more hook ups. Keep your bread soft on the hook and not moulded as I have found that if you mould it on they dont seem to be interested as much as soft hooked baits. You could also try corn.
  5. After watching all the flood action of the Hawkesbury river , I had to wet a line in some of the flood plain areas of Richmond and Windsor. The spot that I chose which was well and truley flooded was Phews Lagoon , for those that know this area it holds monster mud suckers i.e Carp. I took a mate with me and we ended up with 4 fish , the smallest was the size of a foot ball and the biggest is pictured. This one took a unweighted piece of bread in about 1 meter of water. The fight was fun and boy do they pull when they know they are hooked. Lots of laughs had by all and for those that are sick of the weather why not go and give the Carp population a bash. Might see you down there. Cheers Matt
  6. I am in , fingers crossed we catch a monster!
  7. Some people do eat them but from what I have seen them eat , it turns me off them. Plenty down that way so go get yourself one and tell us how they taste.
  8. Got one about 40cm , I use them for bait.
  9. Hi Guys, Went and checked out the local on the weekend , after all the rain Yarumundi is looking great. The fish are starting to return and the carp seem to be getting bigger. I caught this mud sucker on a floating piece of bread while targeting mullet. Pulled like a freight train when setting the hook, peeled off 30 meters of line off the spin gear in a mater of seconds. Heart rate went up pretty quick as well. After a 10 min fight the fat girl gave up and I pulled her up onto the bank. I would estimate the weight at 7 or 8kg and messured 83cm , I would like to submit this for a place in the records. Cheers Matt
  10. Yeah boy they go hard , I got a few and lost a few some big monsters out there. Heaps of big silver bream as well. Looking forward to Easter. Cheers Matt
  11. Hi Guys, Happy New Year , Spent a week down at Culburra over new years , spent a lot of time fishing as one does when around water. First couple of trips headed out into the wide blue yonda only to be rewarded with small flathead and horrible currents , so decided to hit the river with the plastics. First couple of days we only caught just legal flaties but lots of them all on squidgees , best colour was green , plenty of boats out chasing that magic monster croc which swims in this great water way. Next day was the Culburra markets and I stumbled upon a fishing tackle stall which was more than what I had expected. This bloke who was running his stall had all sorts of goodies some of which I had never seen before. I picked up a few different styles of soft plastics but the one that grabed me the most and I must buy more of was a lure that looks like a baby flathead. The lure comes in a variety of colours but the best colour seemed to be black. (I will have to take a pick of the lure and post it). Anyhow after a late start was on the water for the run out tide , drifted the sandbanks and weed beds when all of sudden bang zzzzzzz , my little flick stick and black imitation baby flathead gets smashed , after a tussle and a missed net shot we finally landed this little croc. 68cm and a coupl of kilos. Happy days and cant wait to try the lure out in the Hawkesburry. Cheers Matt
  12. Hi Guys, Its been a while scince I have posted but , I have to submit this into the records. Caught at the North Richmond Bridge on Bread while fishing for Mullet. I take a size 10 shoe which measures 33cm so I would say this big fat stinker would be 90cm plus. When I cut it up for crab bait it had millions of eggs in it , so I feel I have done a service to the water way. Cheers Matt
  13. What a top catch , I can here the BBQ cooking from here mmmmmmmm
  14. Thanks guys I will try some of these methods and see what happens.
  15. Hmmm I must be a very bad boy then as I think I have caught just about the entire population of caties.
