  1. I have two Fin-Nor spinning reels, they are all stainless (read - HEAVY). They are (where) made in the USA. I am sure they have "outsourced" the production to China, so the quality of the newer reels has declined. I have landed a few good jew with them and they have handled the situation. Although on one occasion i had a bit of overheat when i hooked a shark, nothing was stopping that fish! . Also i dislike the placement of the drag adjustment, it isn't easy to adjust on the fly. LW
  2. Spot on ! I also find it pretty hard to believe that we can keep dragging nets across the bottom of ANYWHERE and not expect the stocks to decline. I am sorry but a vast majority of commercial fisherman do not give a stuff about the environment, and are only in it for the life of themselves.... and maybe their children. If the practises that are standards now, continue on, There will be nothing in a few generations, and that is a VERY scary thought. LW
  3. Is there an alternate way to pick one up ? The Lightweight needs a few extra stickers for the summer, and the Hunter River needs a good dose of Fishraider... LW
  4. A good champ for the environment and a dedicated aussie. Sad really.
  5. You will cetainly be able to relax and get a few of these, still take your gear, just don't expect to much. Good luck.
  6. The Myall lakes is brackish in most parts, but it is also connected to the ocean (vaguely) via Tea Gardens and Port Stephens. The palce is not renowned for its fishing qualities. You can catch Bream and Flathead there, just don't get to excited about anything big... Smith Lakes also has a much better connection to the ocean. LW
  7. Upgrade. JUST GET A BIGGER TENT ! LW
  8. There is some valid points here. Marine Parks have merrit if managed for the common interest of ALL stakeholders. The biggest problem i see is small minded individuals, and goverment party politics. Without any real care for the common interest of the whole situation this process will end up only catering for the needs of who can help the sitting government retain power. Scientific methods, research and above all a thorough public and transparent process is the only way this mess can be sorted. Here is a quote from 2000 years ago, that rings a very loud bell with the current issue. "For that which is common to the greatest number has the least care bestowed upon it. Every one thinks chiefly of his own, hardly at all of the common interest; and only when he is himself concerned as an individual." Aristotle.
  9. Yep. That will be the case. If you are comparing your co-ords to a map, then the map will specify the Datum that you will need to have set on your GPS unit. If you have recently modern maps, then you will find that they are most probably WGS84. LW
  10. Given the fact that there isn't water stored in the Impeller pipe, there is always a period where the impeller runs dry. Although it may be only one or two seconds, it is still dry. Sure running it out of the water is NOT GOOD, but categorically saying no running out of water may not be fact. Also, aren't the new impellers made from silicon rubber to help aid lubrication? LW

    Joey

"His mates said it" "Close friends of Joey have rumoured" Next thing someone will have heard it on ACA or Today Tonight. Lets actually wait and see if he has said it. The Sydney journo's have been after him for years. Just watch the footy show tomorrow night and see what happens. LW
  12. Yep, that is correct you should always use Duralec when putting dissimilar metals in contact with each other. I am not sure what sort of boat Netic has, i may have made a false assumption that he has an alloy boat of sorts. Just to be sure, it certainly doesn't hurt to coat ALL bolts that are going through metal or a metal fastening plate with a little bit of Duralac. If you have a glass boat then the silicone product of your choice will be fine. LW
  13. Hi Netic, Try Duralac Jointing Compound, you can get it from most chandlery outlets. It is the best stuff in that type of situation. LW
  14. Congratulations ! That is a top effort from the beach. And a great fish that looks very healthy and shiny. Just goes to show that all the effort you have put in has paid off! When the water warms up a little, you will be the new Jewman LW
  15. Troll. Better off not bighting. LW BTW: What a great catch.
