    Oysters

This question will be sacrilege to those who love eating oysters but I don’t like the taste. I came across a spot the other day where there were thousands of oysters good size some about 5” x 3” on rocks and easily accessible at low tide. I want to know what would be the best way to preserve them for a few days to use as bait. I think if I just shelled them and froze them they would dry out. Someone suggested freeze them in saltwater. Thought one of you guys might have already done this. Thanks Jeff

    Cleaning Clears

Gees Iain I thought every one read those magazines for the tips
  3. I'm looking for a good outboard mechanic who specialises in Evinrude/Johnson outboards. Preferably western suburbs area between Parramatta to Hornsby to Fairfield would be good. If you know someone in these areas would you give me a name and contact number if possible Thanks Jeff
  4. Hawkesbury Buoy I wouldn't complain I'd take her again she might be better than having a sounder And she can guarantee a feed by the sounds of it Good post enjoyed reading it.

    Members Boats.

Here's my tinnie Old but she gets me out
  6. Nope a 30 year old Evinrude 25hp. If it were a Chrysler it would have been made into an anchor after 6 months hmm on second thought 6 months might be a bit generous
  7. Took my picnic day off work to catch up on a bit of and along with a mate headed to Eleanor Bluffs to try and pick up some live bait, not much happening so decided to head for juno with bought fresh slimy Mackerel Mullet Squid and prawns. Only to find my motor didn't want to start Cover off plugs cleaned and we were under way. Sat off the point about 150 meters out when the line went tight and I thought I had the bottom it gave a little then I could feel this very slow pull and stop evntually lost the hook. I figure it was a big ray. Had a slimy out the back on a butterfly rig couple of taps and nothing gave it a few minutes only to find a head and trailing hook. My Mate caught a few small tailor nice live bait size so out they went, and buggered if I know what kept taking them but it took the backend and left me with the hook and front 1/3 They had been bitten in one go, another mate suggested it could have been large tailor. The swell came up mid afternoon so we headed back into the Hawkesbury and tried off Gunya Point got one flathead a whole 35cm so back he went we decided to drift before going back to the ramp at Brooklyn and drifted into the bay, decided we had had enough so packed up and no motor. Cleaned plugs and away we went. Next stop Service centre for tune up. It never misses a beat when it’s on the plain and got it home put the flusher on and 1st pull away it went

    Spare Wheel

My trailer is 30 years old and checking with Boeing they no longer make the wheels for this trailer. They are checking with their supplier but I'm not hopeful. The bearings are imperial which means the inner and outer bearings are the same size. Unlike the later models which used Holden bearings these being and large inner bearing and a small outer bearing. They also advised these are about to be discontinued. I just don't like the idea of going up the expressway to Brooklyn and getting a flat. If any one has one of these lying around and no use for it please let me know. The only other alternative will be to change the axle to one with hubs and 5 studs as that is what smaller trailers are now being fitted with. Helps to put the size they are 480/400 8"

    30 Year Makeover

She goes well pedro not sure how many knots it does but doesn't take long to get from Brooklyn out into Broken bay I will probably sell it in about 18 months I want to get something bigger to take my son and his twin boys out. There only 9 months old but I figure at 2 or 3 they should enjoy a day fishing. Never too young to start a sport that you can do your whole life.

    30 Year Makeover

Jocool, Not sure if it was the article I posted when I put the makeover on the trailer in here, that was 3 memberships ago I seem to lose it when there's an upgrade. I remember Iain was concerned about getting the boat off and back on again to do his trailer up. Just yell if I can be of any help. It's a lot easier doing a trailer than the boat.

    30 Year Makeover

Just as an aside, I was fortunate enough to have given to me some forward controls and steering of a motor about that vintage from Fishing Couple who is a member on this site. If you ever feel the need to convert to forward control, I have the motor controls that you are welcome to. The steering will be utilised on my boat. 34901[/snapback] I might take you up on that I was thinking of putting in forward steering. Thanks and we live close by

    30 Year Makeover

Here is my 30-year-old rig before and after her makeover. She aint as pretty as some of the nice rigs you guys have but hell she gets me out on the water and fishing with a mate One things for sure I'll never strip back another tinny too much $#%&@ work, and not being used to spray painting I got a few stuff ups but what the hell she floats and since the new paint job she goes faster I bought the rig from a mate at golf last year, he had it for about 15-20 years but didn't use it that often. When I got it home I went to run the motor but no go I figured the problem would be in the fuel as it didn't smell the best, so I drained the tank and lines and stripped the carbie. I was surprised there was not a sign of gum build up in the float bowl. New fuel and a couple of new fuel hoses and 3 pulls she fired into life. The Boat is a Brooker 4.3 metre built in 1975. I went to the factory to see if they would give me a couple of stickers just to finish it off and they said, that boat would have been built at Chatswood by the original Mr Brooker. The power plant is a Johnson 25hp built in 1974 she takes 2 to 3 pulls to get started from cold, but once under way she fires up 1st pull
  13. I hope I can post the pics. This was one I posted early last year before I crashed. If it works I'll add the boat after I take a couple of pics over the weekend. The trailer was built in 1975 by boeing. The only surface rust was on the axle and springs. I decided to strip it down and paint it to make it look a bit better.
  14. Hi I finally got back into this site, it's been awhile and a hard drive and update later plus a new name as my old one was taken. I'm going up the Hawkesbury on 15th March tide will be a slow run in and out from .47 to 1.27 and out to .55 so it shouldn't be running that fast. I was wondering if it fishes best at this or a faster running.??? I'll put a report in after it. I finally got my 30 year old tinny finished so I'll post a couple of pics soon. Sure looks better with a fresh paint job.
