  1. Hey I remember that storm...a while ago now, I was flying that day and had to approach under that roll cloud to land at mascot. Was a really turbulent approach. Pictures of the storm were in the paper the next day
  2. Nice catch there...good on you.
  3. I suppose try to find somewhere that is sheltered, or if you cant keep the tip of the rod low, to avoid line bow. Gees that even rhymes.
  4. Hi again all, Update They are really on.... here is todays effort before the SE wind came up about 1030 Biggest went 41cm
  5. Maybe a lot of it is physiological. Its really nice to see the float go down in nice mirror water. For me, generally after a period of time fishing, the wind comes up and it becomes uncomfortable to cast and gets cold, time to pack it in. But I have noticed that they seem to "go off the bite" when it gets rough.. ????
  6. Yes was a nice sheltered spot, I have not had much success in choppy water. Has anyone got any theories on how waves come choppy water affect bait movement under the float and does it freak the fish?
  7. Suppose its a bit like asking for a girlfriends number, Captain
  8. Hi all, Went out today chasing blackies at my favorite spot. After quite a few outings recently, bring home only ones and twos, today they were thick. You know its good when you dont even have time to have a cigarette From the first cast there was action, weed only just had time to reach depth and I was on. Non stop action, dropped a lot and got busted off three times by some big ""mamas" that I couldn't land an 6lb gear. Lost one to a huge Kingy that smashed my fish right in close to the rocks No real size to speak of, all fish 30-37cm...managed to take home seven, could have been more, but so much time was spent re rigging All in all they are on!!! Some details Place Botany bay Date 28/9/09 Time 1100-1300 Tide run in wind 250/15-20 kts Temp 19 deg Barometer 1006 Humidity 30% Moon waxing one week off full Water temp too cold to go in!
  9. Didnt know they were available in that size
  10. Hi Roberta, just wondering if you get any of those little white or red colored like "worms" in the flesh of your bigger fish? I fillet and skin and most of the 40+ cm models I have caught here in Sydney, they seem to have at least 1 or 3 in their flesh. I try to pick them out with varying sucess Does anyone know what they are? Are they nutritional or should i keep picking them out?? This is what I'm talking about......
  11. I just bought a new boat and decided to take 'er for the maiden voyage this past weekend. This is my first boat and I wasn't quite sure of the exact Standard Operating Procedures for launching it off a ramp, but I figured it couldn't be too hard. I consulted my local boat dealer for advice, but they just said "don't let the trailer get too deep when you are trying to launch the boat". Well, I don't know what they meant by that as I could barely get the trailer in the water at all. Anyhow, here's a picture below. See for yourself. What am I doing wrong?
  12. Yes Roberta, have noticed the same down this way, the last 10 or so outings producing only one and twos. Some days I have sat there doing all the right things, not even a down all day! The odd fish I have caught have been 30-35 cm nothing special, the big ones must still be waiting outside
  13. Great pics Roberta, looks like a great trip Cheers
  14. Absolutely smashing breambo
