  1. Awsome stuff Grant...a couple of kids from school who live in Tweed have been getting amberjack and kingies inside the bar off the north wall in their tinny!!!
  2. c'mon summer ...bass are on the move and the Jacks should be waking up

  3. G'day all I took my young bloke for a fish on Wedensday arvo. We were chasing Bream on mullet strip baits under the Tumbulgum Bridge on the Tweed river. i cast up against the second pilon and BANG i was on. The little Sahara screamed as the 6lb braid was burning from the reel it was obvious i had a good fish on . I called it for a ray then maybe a Jew then it was holy shit its a jack!! we had no net so i fought the fish till I got it on its side and surfed it onto the rocks. My son and i just stared for a few seconds!!!!!! the fish went 60cm I did not weigh it but must have been over 3kg ignore the date on the pics. This was 2 days ago middle of winter. cheers andy
  4. no didn't measure them the biggest would of been just over 40 cm i guess and was a fat bugger who slammed the popper at my feet .great stuff !!!!
  5. Awsome red mate fantastic stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. G'day All headed out with a mate this afternoon hoping to land some early season tarpon at a little lagoon up here. We were throwing poppers. my mate Brent is not very experienced and has ( had) never caught anything on a popper. We had 3 inches of rain last night so the water was up a bit. We had no hits for half an hour or so when Brent's lure was smacked but failed to hook up. He let it sit there for a bit then gave it a twitch and bang he was on. The result was his first ever Bass . i think the look on his face says it all. Brent then nailed another couple and I caught this beautiful fish. I should of washed the sand of before the pic. We did not get any Tarpon but the bass more than made up for it cheers andy
  7. top report mate heading to Sydney for a week in November hoping to wet a line I am staying on the water at abbotsford
  8. G'day All Yesterday myself and some mates headed out from tweed on a charter. I won't say the name but PM me if you want to know. We left at 6am and headed to the livie grounds. We jigged up a heap of yackas and then moved to a spot wide off cabarita beach to target Kingies. we fished in turns with 3 livies down at a time. First drift and i was on deck and hooked up after 5 mins . My arms were well and truly stretched by the time I landed a nice Kingie approx 8kg. We ended up with 11 nice big kingies and amberjack. We then moved to the bottom bashing grounds and a steady stream of Parrot, squire, pearlies, pigfish, mowies and a few flatties were boated. Nothing huge but some great table fish. All fish destined for the table were promptly bled gilled gutted and placed in a slurry by John and Troy ( crew). We returned to tweed at 2 pm and the day was topped of with a close encounter with two humpbacks just outside the bar. I will post some pics as soon as I receive them. But i thoroughly recomend this charter to any travelling raiders who are up this way. cheers andy
  9. Mate I fished many times with the gleesons on thier previous boat the Curtis Ambassador . Was Raymond the skipper. He is the best fish filleter I have ever seen!!!!!!!
  10. We get the odd one up here on the north coast . Definately not for the table mate. Enjoy those screaming runs and leaps and the put em back as they are chockers with bones. cheers andy
  11. It should be great . we will have to get out and chase a few red toothy critters in the river cheers andy
  12. I live in Murwillumbah and have been out with reelfishin they are good blokes who leave from tweed. Mono stewart out of brunswick heads is also excellent there are heaps of different operators. google tweed charters and you will find them cheers andy
  13. I know i was not so annoyed by not having a record of the fish but the whales were so close . When I get up at 4 am I am lucky to pack myself let alone a camera. Next Time.....
  14. I had a fish with my dad Yesterday offshore from the Gold Coast. We crossed southport bar at 6 am and headed for palm beach reef. My Dad's boat is more of a "miami vice" boat than a fishing boat so we anchor up set up a berley trail and fish offf the duck board. for those who don't know palm beach reef is an extensive gravel patch known for red hot mackerel action in the summer. I began throwing a 5 inch gulp on my bream rod and caught a few ooglies( juvenile cod different colours). Then my plastic was nailed on the drop and after a few screaming runs a nice little spotty mac was in the net and on the ice. A pillie floated down the berley trail was hit hard and the result was a nice cobia of around 10kg's which again went straight on the ice. The morning was rounded off by a few trevors on the plastics. Plus a mother and baby whale popped up 10 mtres from the boat. All in all a great day. cheers andy
