I do not know if they are available for 27 Mhz and VHF. I used to own one that allowed normal AM/FM radio and 27 Mhz. Seemed to work Ok but I think it lowered the signal strength and quality on both units.

Looking at taking my 84 year old father fishing tomorrow in Botany Bay. (First time I will have had the boat in the water for almost 6 months.) Unfortunately I am not the world's best fisherman, probably the worse, especially when it come to locating the fish. Can anyone give me suggestions of where I might try to at least get some bites? I would be looking at using baits. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would start by asking your family and friends if they would use such a service if it was available. That would give you some feedback on its viability.

You can buy it from some tackle stores. I have seen it for sale at Tackle World. Great stuff. Makes cleaning the boat a lot easier.

xd-50 and xd-100 are both Evinrude oils. Great stuff. Would not use anything else.

Only problem with the quote is the first part which states "Power vessels must give way to". We are talking about sailing vessels and this requirement makes it clear that the sailing vessel has a right of way over a power vessel and even a driting vessel. We might not like it but it is the law.

What is the minimum distance? I do not think there is any specified so long as an accident does not occur. Unfortnately paying of our fishing licenses does not give us any special privileges on the water. It only allows us to fish. The real truth is not if an accident was to occurr the blame could go either way but the law of the water is that a vessel under sail has the right of way over a vessel under power and as stated earlier, drifting is the same as being under power. I know it is not idea but it is the law. The best thing we can do is to try and find a secluded spot away from the sailing boats. Not easy I know.

Part of the problems is that all the requirements are about avoiding collisions. They are not about not cutting through fishing lines. Therefore providing they avoid a collision, under the law, they can come as close to you as they want. The rules are for all users of the waterways and not just fisherman. Sometimes we need to remember that we are just another user of the waterways and just because we want to catch fish it does not give us any special previleges.

I am after some advice. I have a Haines Hunter 520SF boat which is a cabin but no flat area at the front of the boat. Is it possible to still fit a bow mounted electric motor to this type of boat? Any ideas or suggestions?

Putting that much weight at the rear of the boat will often lead to problems with the boat getting up on the plane also I have seen boats fiding with noise high on the water due to too much weight back. I would ask Craig form Huett's as I am sure he will be able to provide you with the right information but, personally, I would be very cautious.
