  1. G,day Raiders. Just looking at the posts. The kings are just starting to fire-up here [far north coast], best so far 129cms. If you guys are up this way PM me, see what we can organise for kings, ambers, sampsom, yellowfin, or reefies. I'am NOT charter, just willing to help a fellow raider, just pay costs. Max 2 plus me on 640 barcrusher 200hp yammy. cheers greg.
  2. G,day Raiders Went for a bash on Tuesday, and bashed we got. Started out with JH and good mate Dave on board heading through the bar on a gentle westerly with bugger all swell [not for the crusher anyway]. Since it was close to the bottom of the tide it made getting yakkas very difficult only getting about a dozen in an hour, mainly due to tailer ripping the the rigs apart. So armed with the few baits we had we headed to the 5min mark we hit a week ago [129cm 125cm kings]. Well what happened next was unbelievable. JH was first down on a good show and just hit the bottom, SMACK, poor bugger didn't stand a chance, totally bricked. There were kings cobes mackerell there for the next 2hrs but didn't land one, BIG FISH. Well we run out of bait, so do you get more at 10.30 or go home with your tail between your legs?. Of course not, back to the bait, yes we have 15 yakkas so out to deep southern. Not being real confident, JH sends one down, GULP and he's on, 97cm king, well done JH. Next up 87cm amber, JH, 94cm amber yours truly, then a 94cm amber that JH hooked and handed over to Dave [Dave is not a fisherman so for him to bring this onboard was amazing ]. Dave cottoned on pretty quick and got the pump and wind going. Congratulations Dave. The ambers were just starting to come on when we left [3.00pm] Yeah it was hard to do but the weather wasn't kind. cheers greg
  3. Hi Steze I use a double blood-knot, but no more than 4 twists preferbably 3. cheers greg.
  4. Hi Mack If you want to get any of those lures back i would consider upgrading the gear. Although i have seen Slinky coax them out on light gear. Goodluck
  5. G,day Raiders. Yeah, your very warm. The spot is only 5 mins from Tweed bar, in the middle of nowhere andabout the size bathroom, hard to find.Hope to get Slinky out there saturday, fingers crossed. Once you pull a couple of fish off there they move on. Hopefully Cookie will get some video cheers greg

    Trim Tabs

G,day Benny I have a Barcusher 640 with 200hp 4 stroke yammy. Got Lenco tabs fitted when I bought the boat 5 years ago, done over 300 hours and never had a issue. I think any boat over 5mtrs going to sea should have them for safety reasons, apart from the better ride. You will never look back, except at your wake. Good luck. cheers greg
  7. G,day Raiders Bob should have some pics up today as he's been away.Slinky the ambers pulled harder because they were bigger, so i just discovered. Great to see Bob get onto some quality fish,he had a ball. Must admit, was scrathing my head after he was up two zip on the first pass. After all he was using his usual $2 op-shop rod as well. Cheers Greg
  8. Hi raiders Thanks for the bassin trip JH. Who wouldn't enjoy sitting a hot bathtub for 5 hours.Slinky don't forget to ring next time JH takes me bassin. PS i gave JH his "lucky" spinner back. Cheers Greg.
  9. hello John. sorry i didn't get back sooner, lack of computer skills. Yeah the kingy we got that day were mushy. Yet a week before they were great. Might have something to do with moon, don't know. Got Dooly on cube after she followed a parrot up. We were in 80m to 75m. Checkout Slinky's report last Sat'. cheers greg.
  10. Went to DEEP SOUTHERN yestday. As usual yakkas went off. Seen the same guys jigging for rats. Also got my PB 113cm kingfish which went HARD.....looking forward to taking out Slinky on Saturday, unfortunately JH cant go so he cant defend his amber jack record
  11. Well done BM. We have been having trouble getting quality reds lately too. I admire you guys who work those jigs all day. Did you get many rats as that seems to be what the lads are getting on jigs here [Tweed 75m]. Any AJs or Sambo? Regards Greg
  12. hi raiders g'day MR Squid. the reef is actually called DEEP SOUTHERN. it is about 12Kn S\E off the tweed bar. got a heap of AJ's there over the last couple of weeks. But couldn't pull one yesterday. much to JH's delight as i only have 1cm on him.[slinky don't worry i will leave him home]. This reef has been on fire for a while.Headed up north to try another spot [8Kn] good mark but only produced just legal pearls.Anyway here's a couple of pictures:
  13. hi raiders went to BLACKDOG reef today and locked on to 2 kingies 1st up (93 and 92 cm) then proceded to get rats then moved a bit further off the reef and on the 1st drop nailed a 1m kingie sorry boys and girls im computer ileterate got some photos so i will put them up tomorrow cheers browndog
  14. :Hi raiders just managed to get my knuckles off the floor and onto the keyboard. WHAT A DAY. a privilege having Slinky and JH on the barcrusher, they really know their stuff. although Slinky got off to a slow start (spending most of his time re-rigging) he soon wised up to this style fishing, BRUTAL. I was going to stop fishing after 3 or 4 fish but Slinky knocked off my AJ and JH switched to cut baits to try nail a snapper (he couldn't get through the AJ's) so i had to keep dropping livies. JH, watching that 1m+ king swim away from Slinky was NOT funny. can't add much more to what the boys have said except that we have some banana plants to put in the anchor well. cheers geg
  15. Bad luck Slinky! Law of averages your gonna land one + u've got the JACK Browndog2
