  1. G'day fellow fishraiders, I was wondering if anyone can help me PLEASE!! I have a Navman 6600 gps/fishfinder which has been working beutifal until yesterday. The gps part is working fine but the sonar part has a mind of its own. The screen scrolls along in red backround not providing me with the depth, structure or activity. The transducer still ticks like it should but still no sonar activity reporting to the head unit. I have contacted Northstar/Navman to tell me they no longer fix these units and have been bought out by lowrance. I dont mind a lowrance unit but the thing is i have a Navman fuel flow installed, Navman VHF which is intergrated with the GPS unit and all my lifes fishing history spots and so on with me beloved unitwhich makes it hard to part with. If there is anyone out there who can help me fix this I would really appreciate it. Sam
  2. Danmistaa, gotta keep up with Greg mate. We gotta hook up a king date me and you. Thursday morning or sunday morning. Just let me know couple days prior.
  3. Again thanks for all the kind words and support. All I can say is i went on the boat on Wednesday. Fished from 8:30 pm til around 2:30am. No bites or runs. Fished with squid and live talor and threw some fresh strips out just incase. Nothing around except for the cold wind and the boat swaying from side to side. However all in all still beats a great days work. I know they are out there I "Can hear them callinggggg" just gotta keep trying. Definatley in the parra river starting from Kissing point all the way up to Kirrabilli. All the best

I will let you know how I went. Until then tight lines, loose line, small hooks, big hooks what ever just aslong you have a line in the water P.s Wheres da bloddy spell check on dis fing
  5. Sorry mate couldnet tell you. Didnt weigh or measure the fish. Guesstimate around 15kgs and probally 1.2 meters.
  6. Mate my U-BUTE rod/rig/reel with all the fancy stuff and ultimate bait (fresh squid caught at the destination) went untouched.. Go figure..
  7. Afternoon Fellow Fishraiders, After hearing and readin about the great catches around Sydney inshore and off shore I thought its about that time where we stack up on bait for our outings to come. Me and my mate have been travelling from peer to wharf for the past 2 weeks to score some squid. To our success only managed 8 in two frikkin weeks. I suggest we fish of this wharf Wednesday off Sydney Harbour. "Reliable sources" indicated squid was around there. I took a jewwie rod out fit "just incase" shimano baitrunner 6500 loaded with 50 pound braid, 80 pound mono leader a real weapon when you hook on a big fish (one would think) My mate took his little 7ft shimano jewl rod and 4000 stratic. 20 pound fins braid and 30 pound black magick leader. We knew only the KrAzzYieSS would be out that night cause the weather wasent made for the sane fishermen. Me an my mate have finally made that conclusion (around 3 years ago) and place our self on top of that catogory. Wind rain and the whole wharf to ourself "CHERRINNGGG" Now if you get into the theorys of cathcing squid some would swear that, strong currents, windy weather rain decrease the chances by 90%. With in a a few minutes i snagged what i belive to be a drunken squid after a big nite out he/she was the only one around and i say drunken cause in theory he/she shouldent be there unless not in the right state of mind. However on he goes fresh as ever and casted right in that spot all the locals talk about. Place my rod comfotably and set the drag hoping for that big one. In the meantime my mate is catchin taylor for the cat who just dosent stop eating. Amazing watching out little firend grab the fish and fly off with it in its mouth while the fish is flapping around. Who needs NAT GEO!!! My mate decides to rig a bream set up on his jewl/stratic 4000 combo. Size 2 hook and mediem ball sinker on about 30cm trace. Chops up a little taylor fillet and asked me "where should I cast it". With the strong current and wind blowing hard i didnt want him to tangle with mine so I said " Over in the far right hand corner mate" hehe!!! Besideds, again the locals say that there in no jew activity in that section of the wharf but good for bream so i had the right intentions. He casts and sets full tight drag and places it in a secure position. Mind you my rod with the fresh squid has been out there for over about an hour so far with no action. My mates about 10min. I head up and start chatting with my mate, had a smoke and after i finished wanted to check on my rod. As i walked down the wharf my mate sceams SAMMM!!! COME QUICKLY....HURRYY I think sweet he saw a squid in the water, but as i was thinking that i heard this strange but very sexy sound.....the sound of the static 4000 drag screeemingggggggg... I run to his side tell him to relax...pump and wind...reminding him that he has light gear a small hook and just let him runn if he wants to...we need to exhaust him If we bought this fish to the wharf we still had a misson to walk him around to lower grounds...Heart pumpin situation When i fist saw colour i knew he was a fair size and thats from a distance... Initially 3 big runs, tired out on the 4th and slack ass attempt on the 5th we knew we had him.. Walked around on the out side edge of the wharf to the ferry section and placed my hand in his gills and up on dry land he went. To my amazement the hook was perfetly and solidly hooked on the side of the jaw and wasnt going anywhere. There you go...and go figure Size 2 hook, med ball sinker 30cm trace 20 pound line 30 pound leader little pices of taylor and casted in the least productive area according to locals..Now i know its very hard to belive and i still cant belive it. Every thing that happend is totally opposite to what is usually recommended to catch these elusive fish. I mean ive heard of these types of situations before and remaind very sceptic but now im a beliver... But can i say this and Mrs Swordfisherman I have no intention to sell or promote Shimano so please edit as you please if im doing anything you dont like. But mate...... that Shimano Jewl rod and 4000 Stratic reel is one hectic combo absoulutley flawless in action. Almost forgot..my U-BUTE rod/rig/reel with all the fancy stuff and ultimate bait went untouched.. ishhifay
  8. Hi all raider mate's Morning Baz (Berleyguts): yep your 100% when driving on i scaped the deepest part of the "V". All is fine if I winch it on. Thanks for your advice and ill try to adjust the rear centering roller tonight and let you know how i go. ( When i checked the centring roller last night it rolls freely with the boat on??? shouldnt this be taking the full weight of the boat??) Morning Deek: Thanks for your advice. I'll try again with the rollers showing a bit more higher in the water next time. Are your roller's quad or just double? Morning Geoff: Check out the images below. I think at the end of the day my trailer is simply not a drive on. Thank you all for the help, appreciated heaps
  9. Evening Brett, Thanks for giving me some your time answering my question. I have a Redco sportsman. It has two long skids in the centre (sides) and then two smaller ones at the front (sides). It also has two single wobblys at the back. The back roller is the self centering one. I dont know how but the bottom of my V left hand side keeps scraping some metal on the trailer some where and i cant see where for the life of me. So you think replacing the skids with rollers.... I was thinking mabe that ezi guide will do the trick but i wonder if you can still drive on a boat with them installed??? Sam
  10. Hi raiders, I keep frikken scrathing the bottom of my Quintrex when i load my boat on the trailer I have a Quintrex 500 coat master with the millenum hull and the trailer is a redco sportsman. Its pretty hard to load the damn thing let alone drive the boat on. Is there anyone that can guide or help me adjust/apply or even recommend someone who can look at it and advise to better my situation. Will be appreciated Ishhifay

  12. Hey Osman, Mate i feel you. I know how it feels cause i had and still frikken have the same JEW disease. The cure: Get your self a boat or on a boat. Wait till two days after new moon and fish two hours before low tide. Sitt under captain cook bridge - Third pylon to be exact. Place your self about 8 meters away from the light. Burley up hard and cast a light weight set up , small sinker and small hook. You should catch some tailors. Use the easy rig set up with a 1 meter trace (atleast) and single hook. Hook the live tailor and cast. Make sure your drag is not sett tight. I preffer loose cause the Jews ova there seem to spitt out the bait once they feel the slightest tension. Try to aim about 3-5 meters infront of the 3rd pylon. Stick it out till around 4:30am. Should get a run around 3-4am and hopefully land a decent size jewwie or atleast one which will help your sickness. Hope this helps. The strike rate with my theroy is around 80% and always a solid jew landed.
