  1. I know some up this way but a bit far for a N. Sydney boy. Google fishing clubs in your locallity and contact them. Most contact no's are supplied. Jeff
  2. It's a Wirrah Cod (old boot) common catch. Crap to catch and worse to eat. Jeff
  3. Great bream Tag! Pity you could not release him as he would have been over 10 years old. Normally do not taste that good as they tend to be quite dry! Reading between the lines and your pic's I would take a guess that you were fishing around Spencer area? Jeff
  4. Hi Bone crusher, do you know anyone with a horse if so ask them for some hail from their tail and then tie it to a hook with a little fine tie wire, fish early morning or late afternoon and hopefully you will entice a trout to take it. Try removing the bark from fallen trees and find white grubs put on the hook without any weight and your in with a chance on anything lurking in the lake anytime of the day however as a shallow lake overcast days are best. God luck young budding fisho! Jeff
  5. Juno Point is a run out tide spot. Best time to fish is dusk to around 11pm. My preferred bait ( I have caught some big jews over the years at Juno) is slabs of mullet with no weight. Jerusalem Bay is as every one knows the hairtail spot in winter and some are also taken throughout the year. Summertime is not worth fishing( in my opinion) although the odd flathead etc are taken if your lucky. Jeff
  6. Be careful this is a pay to fish site! (getfishing) If you want to fish comps all you have to do is join your local fishing club as they all have regular outings, and so do Fish Raider of which you are obviously a member. Jeff
  7. In the article they say to write to Mike Baird, after the council merges( he did not take any notice of the people then) the greyhound industry (he did not take any notice of the people then) and they are only the ones that have hit the headlines, what makes them think this ( I will do what I want upstart) will be any different when it comes to our sport? Jeff
  8. The Hawkesbury is very quiet everywhere, with the cold winter and dirty water from all the rain it still is recovering. The best place to fish is drifting Broken Bay when the river is like that. September should see the river start to fire up as long as we don't get any more deluges along the tributaries to the river to wash all the crap into the old girl. Jeff
  9. Tip of the ice burg! But at least it one of the drop kicks taken out. Jeff
  10. I use a panasonic and it takes good low light pictures in auto mode, you do need a tripod or a very steady hand as it can take up to 60 seconds or more. Manual mode is better as you can set the shutter speed and light but again a tripod is the way to go. Jeff
  11. That fine is only $40 a truck it would cost more for them to dump it legally, so who's laughing? The local council fined a new land owner near me $3000 for cutting trees down, his comment, that's only about $10 a tree if I knew that I would have cut down 10 times as many! so who's laughing? These fines may sound a lot to the run of mill working family but to people with money to burn it's laughable. So now you know who's laughing! It's not you and me that's for sure. Jeff
  12. well said! I wish I could have been there but work unfortunately takes precedence. Jeff
  13. For my 2 bobs worth I think that the people with big heavy boats that drive on and get stuck about halfway up then gun their boats to get them moving (some stand in one spot for ages) are the ones doing the damage at the end of the ramps. I don't know weather it's because they have their trailer set up wrong for their boat, they don't want to get their car tyres wet or just plain inconsiderate of the other ramp users and the environment! Jeff
  14. It's like everything some dimwits ruin it for everyone else. Keep up your good work Donna! Jeff
  15. Watch the weather as there is a lot of debris in the Hawkesbury at the moment. With the dam full and due to flow over today it will bring a lot more down river. Your better of staying down around the lower Hawkesbury and don't venture up past Bar Point. Saying that you would be hiring a house boat down that way and not around Wisemans to save you a lot of time. Jeff
  16. I agree with dirvin21, the months with no r's are the time of year that muddies (not up in the tropic's) have little meat in them. Blue swimmers for some reason can be full of meat all year round. On saying that I have taken mud crabs in August and they were pretty good it really depends on the water temperature and if there is abundance of food around for them at that time, usually there isn't. Jeff
  17. I decided to swap trailers for the tinny. I didn't know how bad the trailer was until the war wagon was off it and we turned her upside down, I knew she had a bit of rust in the tail but one good hit and the last cross member nearly disintergrated near the weld, as this section takes all the weight of the motor , fuel tanks, batteries etc, We were lucky we took her off when we did! Jeff
  18. There is a couple of bush turkeys taken up residence in the bottom paddock in the last couple of weeks, just hope the bloody foxs don't get them, although there is also a few Lyre birds running around and the foxs don't seem to get them, I can't say as much for the chickens! I have lost 4 roosters over the last 2 weeks and the fox (a grey coloured one) will not go into the fox trap. Your bush turkey looks like a female to me Blackfish as she hasn't got the large yellow throat wattle. Jeff
  19. He's a male Gang Gang. They are very friendly, I can walk right up to them with a seed tray and they land on it. Jeff
  20. This little guy came in by himself, usually there is about 30. Another view of the mighty Hawkesbury from my back veranda.
  21. Yes a python, I had his BIG brother here a couple of times and he's as thick as my leg and around 5to 6 meters. Next time he comes for a visit I will get a photo and put up. I had one but my computer crashed and I lost a lot that I hadn't backed up!
  22. Now I know who was stealing the eggs for the last couple of months! He's about 4 meters and no I didn't kill him but I did give him a good hosing down with cold water, so I hope he gets the message that he should be somewhere else sleeping until next spring! Jeff
