  1. wow what a read. Had me on the edge of my seat.. Great job
  2. Mate Well done....... It looks as though you picked up those ladies that I involuntarily released the other weekend.
  3. Thanks for a top weekend Mr Hodgey and a huge thanks to your wonderful family for ALL of that hospitality. A great couple of days were had on the water even if one was a little more productive than the other lol. Thanks and we all look forward to our next trip. Squizy
  4. Austwave Mate; be careful fly fishing is one of those sports that should come with a WARNING. It is bar-none one of the most enjoyably addictive pastimes you will find. As for a set up. My first was a pflueger. I payed no more than about $70 for the Rod, Real, Line and leader. It was a 5/6 wt that I managed Flathead Bream and Chopper Tailor in and around Iron Cove to Bass and Yella in SEQ. This rod has now been retired (Broken) and has been replaced with numerous other rods and reels. The moral, i guess, is not to spend a great deal of money on the rod that you are going to learn with you WILL inevitably break it. Enjoy your new-found pastime/addiction Squizy
  5. I love my Fly fishing; unfortunately, I do not get out that often. The biggest buzz for me is catching fish on one of my own flys
  6. Mate Ticole wants to know why they modelled the ( ) emoticon after you. She reckons that she can hear you from here every time she sees it. :074:
  7. Thanks heaps Fezza I will give it a crack next week.... Oops.. did I say crack. I appreciate your constructive feedback unlike others.........Although Skipper you might be on to something here
  8. I recently purchased a great little 4 piece travel rod, a Pflueger PFLEX66 6'6, 6-12lb line weight. Great action for a light to medium actioned 4 piece rod..... Did I say 4 piece.... Oops mine is now 5 piece. Does anyone out there know if the tips to these travel rods can be purchased separately? Squizy
  9. Great read mate and always better with good pics too. Squizy
  10. Bloody Skite.... I wish it were me out there with you. The only thing that I am netting at the moment is leaves from the pool. As usual a top read skipper... Yes I am jealous. Take care Squizy
  11. Bloody hell Skipper... leave some for my next visit. The Ol' man is up at the moment and wanted to know who the bum was in the pics..... he thought it was Buschy... Have a great Christmas from the Taylors.
  12. Another top read Skip and Happy birthday Dene You seem to be good at catching small fish Skipper; although I think this one takes the cake. Squizy
  13. Top red Roberta; it sounds as though you had a great time and rightly so. As skip said you deserved to be chuffed over that one. Stephen
  14. Good Fish...... and a great looking outfit Squizy

    Yamaha 40hp

Hey there Steve O My back is still ok, however, I am more the lazy fisher. I have a 25 hp Johnston and when approaching the boat Ramp, whilst still in forward motion I flick the leaver on the motor to shallow drive and with the motor at an Idle I knock it into Reverse and increase the Idle just enough to lift the motor locking it into the shallow drive Position. I do the same when moving away from the boat Ramp into deeper water to lower the motor. I don't believe that this is harmful for the motor as it is a smooth action and is achieved without excessively revving the motor. However if it is harmful I am sure that someone here will be only too willing to tell me so.
